A friend of mine who has had a supremely shitty 18 months (including dealing with the suicide of a close family member and a very distressed (for various and very valid reasons) teenage son, has finally got a bit of good luck.

Her son is in a new school that is better suited to his needs (previously undiagnosed adhd which had led to explusion from every school in the la), she's got a new job that suits her well, and is moving out of their run down flat into a lovely house with a garden for her dogs a stones throw away from our new house.

We're moving the same week and one of her ds's and my ds are best friends, so they're both very excited to show each other their new bedrooms and have house warming parties too. They're five and it's very sweet to watch.

I got myself a charcoal toothbrush from home and bargain on a recommendation from a relative, and about two weeks later, stains I have had for years as a result of depression related grubbiness are now gone.

It's a tiny thing but they were a reminder of that dark chapter in my life and I feel like I can finally close the book on that part of my history now I don't have to look at them in the mirror every day. Only a couple of quid too.

meow1989 Mon 25-Mar-19 21:12:01

It was DD’s first parents evening and her teacher said really lovely things about her.
And I found out I’m expecting a surprise DC3 yesterday, I’m still in shock but keep finding myself with a great big grin.

EnglishRose13 Tue 26-Mar-19 09:39:05

I passed the exam!

I sat in the examination room almost in tears. I then had a three day migraine after it. I honestly thought I'd fucked up.

Dh is getting a pay rise and it’ll just mean we can save up for a little holiday this year. It’s a nice boost for us all.

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes Tue 26-Mar-19 12:00:12

My friend has had a shit time over the last year or so (knob head ex). I've helped her and her son move, lent her money, been there for her. She's got new chap, new job, her son's got a new job and things are turning a corner. She took me to lunch the other day, paid for all of it as a thanks for the times I've treated her and repaid some of the money she owed me. (Wasn't expecting that, told her to sort herself out before paying me, I'm lucky enough that I'm not sat here waiting for it). She wanted to pay me for her self esteem, so who am I to argue? Go her!
Oh and my dh was head hunted by his previous employer, he loved that job but there was a horrible bloke in charge so he had to leave. Horrible bloke has now been sacked, so he's going back next month.
Congratulations to everyone else, lovely to share good news.

WooWooCocktail Tue 26-Mar-19 14:06:07

This news is all so lovely. I’m so happy for all of you!

Omzlas Tue 26-Mar-19 14:47:14

We've just booked a 6 night In break. Nowhere thrilling but I can't wait! Not been away since Sept 2017 and that was to a wedding so was quite hard work even then. I've already made lists and everything!

Just need to find that bloody trunkie now.....

Lost5stone Tue 26-Mar-19 15:24:04

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and started bleeding Sunday night and yesterday. But we had an early scan and all is fine and they found a heartbeat. I couldn't believe it!

Bubblysqueak Tue 26-Mar-19 15:50:12

Well done that's great news!

My contract at work has been extended for a year with a lovely accompanying letter about how they appreciate everything I've done in the last 9months. It's so nice to feel valued and wanted.

Happynow001 Tue 26-Mar-19 18:10:08

What a LOVELY thread this is! So nice to have this lifeline with all the "icebergs" of hard/bad news out there! 🥳

The all female space walk didn't happen as they only had one suit suitable for women sad.

I've lost 3lbs this week.

BurrSir Tue 26-Mar-19 20:17:44

My wonderful sister got a new job. She had to move cross country during maternity leave due to her utterly vile ex and this had been a big worry for her and her confidence had taken a knock. I’m bursting with pride.

Rapunzel91 Wed 27-Mar-19 08:09:29

MarieIVanArkleStinks Wed 27-Mar-19 08:33:33

I won some project funding this month that's very competitive and difficult to get smile

My friend is happily dating again following an acrimonious divorce.

Spring is coming and the cherry blossom, forsythia and daffodils are blooming everywhere. I'm loving the lighter evenings and looking forward to the return of the swallows. Not an autumn person particularly; spring is my season of joy!

whiteonesugar Wed 27-Mar-19 10:41:05

One of my friends who has been TTC for over 4 years and had 2 failed rounds of IVF has found out her last round of IVF has worked and she is pregnant. I cried with happiness when she told me. Best news ever!

Purplecatshopaholic Wed 27-Mar-19 11:09:59

pessimisticstateofperception Wed 27-Mar-19 11:13:56

I have been single for a year after a long and hideous history of abusive men making me feel worthless, although I'm not going to do anything with him, I have a guy 15 years my junior hanging off my every word, making me feel like I'm the most beautiful woman alive and generally giving me a huge ego boost which makes me feel amazing. I'm so shallow grin
