Majorca or canaries st end of April???

Apologies, posting for traffic! After a very difficult few months, I am booking a holiday for one or the other destination at the tail end of the school hols )and a few days of school starting ) can’t afford to go further afield. Wondering if Majorca weather is nice in later April, or if you have to fly to canaries for more reliable sunshine? Any experiences would be so much appreciated. I would never generally take the kids out for even a day of school, but we all need this badly. Can’t get leave from work over the main part of school Easter hols so that’s not an option. With inset days they’ll miss 2 days of school only. I’m booking one or other today- please help me pick with any sunshine knowledge you have!

Canaries will be likely better weather but also more expensive. Have you considered Turkey? We've just booked a week for 4 AI end of April for just under £1200.

The Canaries will be more reliable for weather. You might get lucky with Majorca, but if you don't want to risk it, I'd say go with the Canaries. I've heard Fuerteventura is pretty windy, keep that in mind. It won't be super hot, but pleasant.

Lanzarote will be in the mid 20,s in april. It’s a nice time to go because it’s not too hot

Tenerife is lovely in April OP.

I was idly looking the other night and found a week in april, self catering for 2 ad 2 ch for about £800, in a decent looking hotel in los cristinos which we go to once a year, as we find it nice for families. This was in travel republic I think.

And it can be cheaper to eat etc in the Canaries as I think they have some kind of tax break.

We’ve had excellent mid-April weather in Majorca and it was before all the touristy hotels opened, so not ridiculously crowded. Not hot, but sunny and warm. Perfect

I would definitely go for canaries as they're a really nice temperature by April (and reliably so, whereas you can't guarantee it with the Balearics)

Canaries are warmer but you can get lucky in southern Spain, Italy or Greece in April

I would recommend the south of Gran Canaria for the best weather, then Tenerife (Costa Adeje has some cheap yet lovely places to eat). Lanzarote and Fuerteventurea are rather windy. Went to Majorca last May and it was unseasonably cool.

It may be nice and warm in majorca, it often is, but it may not. If you want reliable weather at that time I’d go for the canaries.

Definitely Canaries, the Balearics can be unreliable for weather even in June.

The pool and sea won't be warm in Majorca at that time of year. We've made that mistake before.

We went to Majorca at the end of April a couple years ago (honeymoon) and it wasn't that warm. There was a few days where I would have worn a coat if I had one and had to pick up some warm trousers/tops etc.

Definitely too cold to get in the pool or anything and a lot of places weren't open for the summer season yet.

I'd go with Canaries if I were you.

Canaries will be warmer and sunnier. Majorca can be chilly in April

Another vote for the Canaries and disagree that it will be more expensive, even though the flight is much further.

We've been to both a few times and find that flights are around the same price (we've actually flown to Lanzarote for £30 return, but that was in December but the weather was warm or hot and sunny 6 days out of 7).

Eating out in the Canaries is significantly cheaper than Mallorca.

Although I prefer the Balearics, for April, I’d go Canaries

Canaries definitely
Cheaper when you are there
Costa Teguise is quieter and good for families
Puerto del Carmen or los Cristianos if you like it busier
I found fuuerteventura bit windy

Canaries definitely.

We've been to Fuerteventura in April twice. Both times it was hot and the wind was quite welcome. We're going to La Palma on Sunday, we love it there, I looked on IG yesterday and people are sunbathing and in the pool.

Canaries definitely more reliable if you want sunshine. Majorca in April could be lovely but could equally be rainy, windy and not especially warm.

Canaries will be better weather, but it’s a longer flight (if flight time and s a consideration)

I’ve been to both in April, Tenerife is lovely weather in April but also, black volcanic beaches.

If I was choosing between the two I’d plump for Majorca as I think it’s the nicer island.

Have a fab holiday.

Not all the beaches on Tenerife are black volcanic sand, many have yellow sand, same for Lanzarote.

Agree that Majorca is 'prettier' but pretty isn't all that if you want to laze around in the sun and the weather is more suited to hiking in a raincoat.

Currently in Canaries it's 20 degrees, hot and sunny. Went to Majorca a couple of years ago, it rained a couple of days, but it was Autumn

Lanzorote is our favourite family places, must have been 20 plus times!
I think you will get reliable sunshine there.
