Neighbours dog barking THIS late!!!

Just complaining really, my neighbours dog across the cul de sac has been outside and barking on and off for the last 2 hours! It's woken my eldest up who's got a nasty throat and ear infection and needs his sleep. This isn't the first time it's been an issue.

I'm going to give her a knock tomorrow and complain, I'm sure I won't be the only one!!

(Just to add, I love dogs and accept they bark but from 10pm til gone midnight echoing around the street isn't acceptable imo)

She needs to take him in if he won't stop barking, whatever the time of day.

My dog's outdoor fun comes to a swift end if he starts barking for the sake of it.

Is this a one off incident?

If so, I'd be concerned the dog is trying to alert someone.

Oops.
Missed you said that it happened before. Sorry!!

Do you live in Dorset by any chance OP? Our neighbours dog is doing the same. They shut it out every evening around the time our kids try to go to sleep and leave it for about 2 hours whilst it goes nuts Angry poor thing.

We've heard two other neighbours at the back shout over the fence tonight about their kids being disturbed and enoughs enough!

No it happens periodically, there's no routine to it but sometimes it does happen until ridiculously late. Im not one to normally complain, I just let it go to keep the peace but has especially annoyed me this evening cause of it disturbing ds.

Had to just double-check time of OP in case it was mine! Mine weren't out tonight late though, and they're a bloody nuisance, but they don't bark continually and mostly not out late, ie not after dark, only on rare occasion.

Ndn though has ddog that barks and barks and barks, either through the wall, or out in garden, bloody noisy, some barking though to wake someone up!!

You could get a noise meter fitted if it continues to be a nuisance?

I think some kind of step needs to be taken to stop it from continuing. I've never heard of a noise meter tbh?
I feel sorry for her actual next door neighbours, I'm 4 houses up from them and it's causing a nuisance so hate to think how they must be dealing with it.
It has been mentioned between neighbours before and I know one has mentioned it to the lady who lives there before but was met with a rather frosty reception.
I'm still going to knock tomorrow and say that it's not acceptable, she needs to be bringing the dog in at an earlier time.
I also feel for the dog being left out in the cold and dark this late into the evening (though it has stopped now thankfully).

I have this - it drives me MENTAL.

NDN's dog starts off, which sets off another dog on the street behind, which then sets off two very yappy ones who start to growl and they all keep going until one backs down at about 2am. I'm listening to it now.

Yup, happens here too. One of mine is deaf as a post so she doesn't hear it and the other one ignores it until even she seems to get fed up and will bark once or twice as if to say 'Will ya stfu!'
It's a lab left out when the owners go out, so it can be any time of day or night, that dog in itself I can barely hear, but it sets everything else off, including the geese at the small holding over the lane.
Upside is we haven't had a break in for years, unlike further up the village, that lab barks at nothing the slightest little noise and with everything else joining in there's not much chance of being undisturbed!

I just don't understand how people can be so inconsiderate that late at night! I caught up with my neighbour this morning as she was outside when I came home from my school run. She was very hostile, I politely asked if I could have a word and said along the lines of 'last night your dog was outside barking for over 2 hours very late at night, and it's becoming a disturbance and waking my children'. She replied 'well do you expect me to just have him shit in my house?' To which I responded with the idea of taking him for a walk to shit if it's that late as the whole cul de sac shouldn't have to suffer for it. I then got a mouthful about who do I think I am? And I don't own a dog so what would I know? And she then went on to complain about my 3 dcs making noise getting in the car in the mornings when we are leaving for school! ( we leave at 8.45 and yes sometimes the debate over who's sitting where and run around on my drive, but we are in the car and gone within 5 minutes. Plus they are children and it's expected, perhaps I'm wrong?! ) I left it saying that it's not the same thing at all, and that I'm not the only one who will have complaints about her dog barking so late into the night and it will only be a matter of time before someone reports her. She told me to piss off! So I did.... I don't think she cares about it being a nuisance to anyone else, it's her dog, her house, her life and sod the rest of us.
