To ask for advice regarding morning after pill

I’m sorry for the TMI, but I am finding myself in a bit of a pickle. I am currently taking methotrexate once weekly for RA. At the time I was prescribed it the consultant did talk to me about the importance of safe sex and I have plans on having the mirena fitted.

However, it was my partners birthday yesterday and we went out for food, and I think my food may have made me unwell as I am really sick since about 7am, mostly diahorria, but a little vomiting too.

We usually rely on condoms but last night we didn’t, and I planned on just getting the MAP this morning.

I need some advice now. What can I do? Is there any point in taking it if I have D&V? Will it be effective if I wait until I feel better? I am about 12 days into my cycle. Would the regular weekly dose of methotrexate act as a morning after pill?

I dont think it would work if you are vomiting and i also would advise that i took the MAP at around 60 hours after dtd and i now have another baby

Firstly, it’s not good to plan on getting the MAP, it should be reserved just for emergencies. It’s not great that you’re being sick as you may struggle to keep the pill down, but the longer you leave it the less effective the pill will be. I would recommend eating some dry white toast and try and keep that down and go and get the pill ASAP. I certainly wouldn’t rely on your other medication as a form of birth control!
