After I just smacked myself and cried in the supermarket!

I don’t feel like I can go back in there again..

They started playing one of the songs we nearly picked for my dads funeral and I started crying, then I felt myself about to really go so for some bizarre reason I slapped my cheek Hmm

Composed myself, got to the checkout to get a call from DH, DS is sick and needs picking up from nursery, I said I was having a nightmare, he asked why and I started crying again!

I feel so embarrassed.

Don't worry OP. Everyone has bad times and sometimes unfortunately it happens in public. Just make sure you take care of yourself Thanks

There is a song that was played at my DS year 6 leavers and whenever I hear it I get irrationally upset! It came on in homesense the other weekend, thankfully DH was there paying so I could just walk out (sobbing). We all have triggers and bad times etc, don't be so hard on yourself.

Oh love you! I cried in Covent Garden because a string quartet were playing a piece we had at my Nan's funeral. I eventually went back.

Don't feel embarrassed. You feel the way you do presumably because you miss your dad, which means you loved your dad, and that's a good thing. 💐

I sympathise.

I was sitting in a doctors waiting room and saw a toy pushalong fire engine exactly like the one my eldest had when he was a baby - just before autism took hold and he started drifting away from me.
I think it was the thought that at the time he was playing with the fire engine I was blissfully unaware of what the future held.
I had absolutely no idea that at the age of 20 he would now be pacing up and down shaking a baby's rattle having never spoken a word in his life.

It was the toy that triggered the emotion, but I felt a prize banana sitting there with tears streaming down my face.

Just be kind to yourself. Life can be cruel and it's surprising sometimes how it's the smallest things that trigger the biggest emotions. x

Don't worry OP. You're going through a difficult time, give yourself some credit .. you made it to the supermarket and it sounds like you've been managing your sadness and grief. It's ok for it to come out sometimes (even unexpectedly!).

Don't put too much pressure on yourself to hold it together all the time. Most people have felt grief and won't think you're crazy. Don't worry about it. Much weirder things happen in supermarkets, frequently!
