Shiny hair

Sorry for posting here but style and beauty doesn't seem to get much traffic I've found.

I was watching tv this morning-some breakfast type news show-and there was an Irish band playing and the woman had the most amazingly shiny hair.
I've noticed before on tv that a female guest had amazingly shiny hair. Is it the lighting? Is it hair spray? How do they get it so shiny?? My hairdresser always says what great condition my hair is in but it's not shiny like these two women. I don't colour it, it's a natural slightly wavy golden reddish blonde, maybe colourants add shine?

Do you have shiny hair? If so how do you achieve it?

Thinking about it, I've never seen anyone in real life with such shiny hair. Only on tv.

Diluted vinegar in the very last rinse. So finish washing your hair, rinse it all really well then pour the jug of diluted vinegar over your hair. It smells a little bit for a few hours but is gone by the next day

They'll have had their hair styled before going on air, so products/styled/straightened. Mine always looks really shiny when I've just been to the hairdressers and had it properly done.

I have really shiny hair.

I don’t do anything to it. It’s thick and auburn. I’ve been blonde in my younger days and it is very dull.

My hair is pretty similar to the Duchess of Cambridge in length, colour and style (I’ve been told this a few times) I’d say it is probably just genetics.

It’s a pity I don’t look like the duchess of Cambridge though 🤣🤣

You're so lucky! Mine has lost a lot of its redness and thickness since I stopped having it permed in my 20s. It fell out drastically after dc3. Maybe I need some products that create volume.
I wash mine daily so the vinegar rinse wouldn't be pleasant. Could do cold water though.

Mine is shiny, mainly because it's very straight

I have shiny hair. Basically I just don't muck about with it too much. Only use conditioner once a month as it can dull it. Never use too much heat when I dry it.
I have a shine spray that I use when I go out and my hairdresser told me never to spray it directly on my hair but to spray it on a tissue and gently wipe it down my hair.

Dark straight hair will always be glossier than blonde or curly hair, it's to do with light refraction.

i have very long(not far from my waist)jet black hair(natural not dyed) that is always shiny and healthy,the only think i dont like about my hair is its to thin

i dont blow dry or straighten,(i dont own either or ever used one)
i always let it air dry

i use thickening shampoo and conditioner for fine hair daily and use hair masks a few times a week,as its a lot of hair i use the whole tub

i also take skin,hair and nail tablets from holland and barrett,they are bloody expensive but work

Hairdresser friend of mine said they use spray on serum for tv presenters etc. Dunno though. Mine is shiny (according to others as I don’t see it) and I just use big standard shampoo and conditioner

Did they have dark hair? Light reflection is far more obvious than on lighter colours, mine was almost mirror like when it was black and far less so with a full head of caramel highlights.

Any tips for grey hair, please ladies? When my hair was naturally dark I loved the shine that was there. I do use products for grey hair but, even though I have the bounce, the gloss isn't there.

Colouring (especially darker shades) straightening and oils all make mine shinier. Henna made it extremely shiny. My hair is lovely and soft when its in good condition though and I feel like anything that makes it shinier makes it less soft.

A hair mask left on for 10 mins after shampooing then a good product that gives hold and shine eg a serum spray, then dry in sections, wrapping each section around a brush. Follow with a shine mist!

But...what if you need to dry it in a hurry? How long does it take to air dry?

Everyone always comments on my shiny hair. It’s my one good feature. But I don’t do anything special to it and regularly abuse if dying it different colours. But it stays healthy and shiny. So I think there must be a genetic component to it??

When i used to colour my hair it had incredible shine. I would suggest this was it. I'd be willing to bet that v few women over 30/35 on tv have their natural hair colour.

a very dilute apple cider vinegar cold water rinse. It doesn't smell for more than a few minutes if properly diluted. I don't use heat or styling products.
A sulphate free shampoo helps. Only condition the very ends.

the more damaged the hair, the less shine.

My hairdresser always told me to do the last rinse in as cold water as I could bear. Something to do with it making the hair follicles lie flatter hence shiny hair

Your hair sounds the same as mine. Sadly blonde/red wavy hair doesn't refract the light and looks dull without help.
There's a certain very fine, but thick blonde hair type that always looks expensive and sleek. Probably the result of hours in the hairdressers chair and plenty of product.
My tips would be.. Cool water rinse to finish. Serum on the ends of hair when damp and make sure the hairdryer noozle is pointed down to close the cuticles.

I was told last night that mine was 'incredibly' shiny. I was surprised a bit by it though as I've put it through the mil recently as I've lightened/bleached it with a box dye, then used a semi straight after & have been using them little colour effects shampoos from Superdrug. Conditioner wise just Aussie stuff. I do a cold water rinse when I'm rinsing the conditioner off but that's about it.

My hair shines beautifully when is freshly washed as it reaches my legs and I tend to wash it by submerging it fully in the bath. I noticed that by doing this I actually wash the roots much better and no shampoo remains in my hair at all. It also grows very fast (just like my nails) because some 20 years ago I started using the Vitamins for hair and nails from Boots: 1 tablet per day for 1 year. Afterwards I started taking the tablets 1 every 3, 4 weeks. The only problem is, I live in London and with hard water area I lost half of my hair.

When I used to go out I used to put a bit of shine serum around my fringe etc or use a shine spray which I found in the wig/spray/makeup shops you find until now in Shepherd's Bush, Finsbury park or normally zone 3, 4 or London - these guys have got items from all over the world, which you cannot find in Boots or Superdrug. I would assume they have online presence on Amazon or ebay, so everyone could purchase such items - they are just great.....and this comes from a very fussy person.

I think your hair looks fine. That's the type of hair I said about in my previous post. It hangs nicely and the tones are lovely. Some serum and finished with a shine spray would help. Mine is a huge wavy thick mess unless I tame it with the hairdryer and plenty of conditioner. I always notice it shines more after being freshly trimmed and done at the hairdressers.
