AIBU?

To just put the lot through the shredder....

I've been trying to juggle a massively heavy workload for weeks now.

I've come into work this morning and more papers have magically appeared on my desk that need some kind of action/investigation. I've added them to the pile and my tray is now so full I could scream.

WIBU to just put the whole lot through the shredder and claim to have no idea where it's all gone?

Disclaimer: Obviously I would never do it but a little fantasy doesn't hurt does it Grin

If you could get away with one thing today (without being found out) to make your day easier what would it be?

Haha!

...and lets not get me started on on what I would love to say/do to the people that keep asking me:

"So is there an update on XXXX yet?"
"Have you managed to look at YYYY?"
"We really need to move on ZZZZ"

"YES, I FILED IT UNDER 'F' FOR FUCK OFF"

Ha, I know how you feel! Except mine is email. One time I was working from home and the cat jumped on my keyboard, and managed to hit a delete key. 'do you really want to delete Inbox?' Soooo tempting to hit yes and blame the feline!

Now I've just had someone come in and talk at me for 15 minutes about how we should manage the fucking Tea Kitty, (member of staff who normally does it is off sick for a few weeks so basically suggesting I should do it) all while I'm trying to eat my lunch at my desk and work at the same time.

Said person has a fraction of the workload (works on different project) and spends most of her time up and down the office chatting.

Send help.

Confession: I have put docs in the shredder which I have no clue what to do with and many months later have not heard another thing about any of them. So it is possible!

On my last days at work, I regularly just shred everything. Grin

The one thing I'd do would be unplug the phone on my desk so I can work uninterrupted by stupid fucking calls that, if they aren't telemarketers or scammers, are rarely for me anyway. I'd be so much more productive if I didn't have to answer the damned phone.

Tell Tea Kitty pest, she's designated Tea Kitty Cover until official Tea Kitty Person returns and if she argues tell her then there'll be no tea kitty and everyone will have to fend for themselves.

When I had too many bits of paper to deal with, or it wasn't straightforward I would pick another department or employee and put their name on the top and sneak it into the tray for the 'post person' to collect, take to the post room and redistribute.

Only once did someone ask if I knew where it had come from and why it had taken so long to get delivered. Of course, I had no idea.

Not shredded, but in an old job years ago, I was basically hounded out by the boss who took against me (can't remember why but I was 23, it was my first job out of uni and it was awful). I was put on sick leave for a bit when I handed in my notice, but I had to work the end of it. I was instructed to write up a detailed description of my job for whoever was taking over (they didn't replace me until I was gone so I couldn't train them on the job). I was supervised in doing this by another woman in the office who, while perfectly nice herself, was such an ass kisser to the boss, she drove me mad. She would read through what I was writing, ask me questions about it, ask me to explain what different things meant and then get me to rewrite it in the way she preferred. I suspect she was going to have to cover my job for a while.

Anyway, last day on the job, I'm logging out for the last time, and in a sudden fit of madness, I deleted the entire document and then deleted it from the trash folder too. I know you can still get things back but they would have had to have paid for a proper IT person to come in and do it.

I left with a spring in my step and have never looked back!
