ExDP used to call me it. I hated it. Anyone else?

fauxhuman Mon 11-Mar-19 19:47:48

Can't bare it. Blokes at work say it. Com

ILoveMaxiBondi Mon 11-Mar-19 19:48:05

Yep hate it. My ex also called me it. Can’t stand it now. Didn’t like it when I was with him either tbh.

I hate it too. I've warned my DH what will happen if he utters it grin

ScreamingValenta Mon 11-Mar-19 19:49:22

I agree, particularly "the missus'.

Singlenotsingle Mon 11-Mar-19 19:49:33

Well, I call my dp "him indoors"! (Among other things - "the old fella").

MonstranceClock Mon 11-Mar-19 19:49:41

I dont mind it. But then i often refer to my husband as "That twat I live with."

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle Mon 11-Mar-19 19:50:45

Monstrance grin

Ugh, I can't stand it either. It just sounds demeaning to me.

gamerchick Mon 11-Mar-19 19:52:21

I don't care. I call husband wench. Everybody has their words, other people not liking them is fine.

Alsohuman Mon 11-Mar-19 19:52:53

I'm sure mine's called me worse out of my hearing.

LessLivid Mon 11-Mar-19 20:15:02

See also, “the wife”.

How the fuck I stayed married more than a week I don’t know.

SrSteveOskowski Mon 11-Mar-19 20:23:32

Not as bad as 'hubby' and 'wifey', which is how DH's sister and her husband refer to each other. They're both as painful as each other though.

mimibunz Mon 11-Mar-19 20:26:33

The men I work with will say it jokingly. Trying to train mine to refer to me as HRH.

didireallysaythat Mon 11-Mar-19 20:27:13

Better than little wifey

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine Mon 11-Mar-19 20:28:18

I hate it too. And I despise being referred to as wor/your/my lass........

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle Mon 11-Mar-19 20:33:45

Eurgh ‘wifey’. Hate ‘wifey for lifey’ too 🤢.

CaseofEllen Mon 11-Mar-19 20:37:28

My missus is okay I guess, the missus is gross. I'm not a 'the'.

RomanyQueen1 Mon 11-Mar-19 20:40:12

I don't mind it as long as my name comes first, like "this is Romany, my missus. because I'm my own person before being his wife.
I'd introduce him the same, with his name first.

AutumnCrow Mon 11-Mar-19 20:41:59

I think it depends on the couple, context, humour, region and general shittery.

SuptHastingsLikeTheBattle Mon 11-Mar-19 21:18:11

Romany that makes sense yes.

RomanyQueen1 Mon 11-Mar-19 21:30:42

Round here they say er in doors, I'm not sure if this is better or worse, as er in doors is a force to be reckoned with. grin

StealthPolarBear Mon 11-Mar-19 21:31:58

Up here people talk about wifey to refer to any woman, married or not. I fjnd that really odd.

RitaMills Mon 11-Mar-19 21:36:05

I’m not too fussed by it, he calls me the missus and I call him face ache... we both know it’s just in jest and obviously wouldn’t use it in polite company.
