AIBU to hope this trend dies a death soon?

I'm house hunting at the moment and every other house is grey. Grey walls, grey kitchens, grey bathrooms.... bloody depressing.

Can someone please tell me it's starting to go out of fashion? It's the avocado bathroom suite for our times...

Me too !! I'm fed.up of everything being grey !! Mrs Hinch has a completely grey home for goodness sake as does everyone.se on Instagram!! I keep wanting to add a pop of colour lol

Grey and silver. With thick pile carpets that show vacuum marks and velour cushions that have similar stroke marks. Yack!!!

I agree Ive never looked at grey and thought anything other than dull BUT each to their own and you can always repaint.

Each to their own, but...no way. Blue and cream all the way here, baby. Mind you, at least when you redecorate you don't have purple, floral vinyl wallpaper to get off (thinks of mid- 80s purchase)

Painting tiles, work surfaces, flooring, kitchen doors etc doesn't really work. You're basically stuck with it til you can afford to replace them.

My partner keeps referring to our house as "50 shades of grey" as every time we decorate a room I choose grey 😳😂. Admittedly we team it with bright pops of colour like we have orange cushions and accessories in our living room, daughters bedroom is grey with pink/white, our room is grey with gold, kitchen grey/orange, bathroom grey/yellow accessories again.... god it does sound dull 🙈 but it really isn't in the flesh!

No, but you can paint everything else and buy rugs/throws/cushions etc to brighten it up.

I have seen a few of the grey interiors and I think they do look nice, in a show home type of way.
I have to admit I thought a couple were black and white pictures, but no, that was what they were like.

I like Mrs Hinch. The baby toys will add a nice pop of colour I think.

Not fan on grey kitchens tbh. We have grey sittingroom but bathroom is cream and brown, kitchen light green and hall blue

Hm, my bedroom is grey, lilac and pink and I love it.

I wouldn’t like it in most of the house though, that would be very depressing.

I think the anti grey thing is a bit snobbish actually. Grey is a pretty neutral colour, most people don’t have the funds to decorate every year and grey is fine to accessorise with loads of other different colours to mix it up - pink, yellow, orange, white...

Grey isn't neutral though. Grey is cold and overpowering.

Cream, white and magnolia are neutral.

We're having new doors in a few weeks time and when the guy came to show me colour samples he said "I know full well you'll choose this steel grey colour, every woman your age does". I almost shoved his samples up his smug arse. Anyway, I chose navy and it's lovely.

A friend of ours has an all-grey house. It's nice, but I couldn't do it; there's colour in every room here and despite the fact that it's less Instagram-worthy, i prefer it a little.

Mrs Hinch is on Instagram. She is very into her cleaning and keeps her home absolutely spotless, it looks beautiful all the time, and is very grey.

There was a thread a while back saying 'pop' was a terrible thing to say. Even 'pop to the shops' was not allowed so I am guessing 'pop of colour' is also illegal.

I'm just amused, as the first thing I did when I moved into my second flat in the early 90s was get rid of the grey marble paper walls and skirting boards - it felt like I was walking into a battleship. With a peach bathroom, naturally. And a tiny navy blue kitchen. I suppose I should have been grateful that they'd covered over gloss khaki walls in the living room with woodchip, but they painted that grey as well.

Just you wait - it'll be all peach or yellow walls again soon. And then you'll miss the grey!
