to think you shouldn't make sex noises during a guided meditation?

Just that, really. A man in my meditation class makes these horrendous moaning, sighing, grunting sounds during meditations. Today the instructor asked us to sigh on the out breath and Mr Moans-a-lot really went to town. It was hilarious but also really distracting and gross!

Do you think he is using Ujjayi breathing. Some people overdo it. I had to move away from someone at at a Yoga class before I strangled her. It was so exaggerated.

Lol maybe? I have no clue. It just strikes me as so... entitled, actually. We're all in a room together and making excessive noise is obviously going to distract other people. Plus the nature of the noises he makes... it sounds like he is having waaaaaay too much fun. It's actually creepy.

I was in the sauna at the gym last week and a man in there started making those noises. I had to leave Angry. Here’s my advice to these men - don’t be a fucking weirdo.

A man in my pilates class makes a lot of noises like this. Men are gross.

Jesus god I would've run a mile. This is yet another reason I try to avoid being in enclosed spaces with strange men.

There’s a bloke who does this at my hot yoga class Confused
It’s a pretty even mix of men and women in the class, and everyone else managing to get on with it quietly....minus my cracking hips and knees occasionally Blush But this guy always take up his spot, front and centre and makes his “mmmmmm”, “aaaaaaaaaaaa”, “ohhhhhhhhhhh”, noises during every change of pose Hmm

I have an excessive yawner in my yoga class ….. she must yawn 50 times during the 1.5 hour session, very very loudly, pisses me right off.

There's a man at my gym who can't lift weights without the groaning, grunting, panting sex noises.
All the women look at each other like "WTF? "but the gym workers studiously ignore it.
I get the feeling if I say something to old Groany he will think I am hitting on him.
Envy(not envy)

This is what puts me off going to anything like this, those noises would really piss me off. What makes them think it's ok to make these offensive sounds??

I would be so embarrassed! I'm embarrassed if my bones crack when I move around, and I can't help that. I can't imagine feeling okay to make noises like this in a roomful of people.

This is the point at which I tell a FOAF (friend of a friend) story.

Woman working out at gym on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Man nearby making grunts and noises on workout. She glared. He apologised profusely.

It was Hugh Jackman.

It's kind of the audio equivalent of manspreading

It is, isn’t it? They have to make their presence felt. Man here! Everyone pay attention!

I think it's a man thing. DH sounds like he's weight lifting when he's getting dressed in the morning. I can't be in the same room anymore, as it literally makes my blood boil. He genuinely has no idea that he's making so much noise.

It’s so arrogant. Invading everyone else’s space like that. Just shush and behave like a normal person.

They are probably using the voice noises to hide the fart noises......

Report

Would it be ok to say in an irritable tone, "Just shut up, please." These days you can't say anything but I wouldn't tolerate some exaggerated noises inappropriate for the lesson.
