Forgot to put engineering insurance in place for something and only realised when I tried to make a claim for over £150k!!

I got involved with a younger colleague shock It didn't end well at the time but was actually a good move in the end.

Sent something to x place instead of y, the names were very similar but on the other side of the globe blush cost us thousands

Losing 25k down the back of a safe, and staying in another job for 5 years too long 😂

Shamelessly place marking!

Sent a student out of the room for being disruptive. Left the rest of the class doing a science practical (putting bits of potato in water) to go and speak to him. TA was in the room and I could see in through the window.

Another student finds the scalpel I had used to cut up the potato. It was in a tray on my desk, under a paper towel. He tries to attack another student with it before the TA or I are able to stop him.

It wasnt a particularly sharp scalpel and I had hidden it. Nobody was hurt but I often think about how it could have gone badly wrong if the circumstances were slightly different.

Wrote a presentation on some specific changes to regulations, including details of legislation and mandatory dates for implementation.

Myslef and a colleague separately presented this information to 25 different groups of clients around the country.

After the run had ended, I discovered I'd got one of the dates wrong. By 12 months.

Elephantina Sun 03-Mar-19 20:54:18

Incidentally I don't mind telling that story even if it's fail fodder. Nobody cared much anyway.

I made a cross currency payment the wrong way 🤦🏻‍♀️

I transferred EUR 50k to USD when it should have been USD 50k to Euros. By the time I corrected it and accounting for the shift in rates by the time I realised the error, I lost the bank I work for about £7k 😳

aibutohavethisusername Sun 03-Mar-19 20:55:47

I’m not a journalist if that’s what you mean??

Elephantina Sun 03-Mar-19 20:56:46

So what did you fuck up then?

aibutohavethisusername Sun 03-Mar-19 20:57:08

I have a customer 1800 worth of USD to pounds rather than 800 USD to pounds blush

LemonadePockets Sun 03-Mar-19 20:58:45

Cashed a cheque for a man and give him £1000 too much (the whole transaction was checked and doubled checked by manager and. Assistant manager too!) the chap left the shop & I immediately realised the mistake. He came back thankfully!

When I was still relatively new I had a run in with the nasty accounts lady who had it in for me for some reason and was rescued by my boss who told her that I was an asset to the company and to treat me with respect...

... forgot to put my teams payslip data in that that month and had to grovel to get them paid.

Less than a year later the firm went under and I secured a new position. Nasty lady came grovelling to me to see if there was anything going at my new place 😁.

(I said I’d ask around and then genuinely forgot...).

I worked as a nanny on the seafront in a lovely town in New Zealand.
One day on the school run, I let a wave in through the window of the car.
The three children convinced me to slow down and open the window of their very posh Hyundai Santa Fe. It soaked the dash board. When we got back to the house I dried it up with tea towels.
The next day, the mother rang me and asked why the car wasn't starting and that the kids had said I'd let a wave in!
She was very cross but didn't charge me for it or anything. I still cringe at how silly that was.

I paid someone their entire annual salary I’m a month.

I also shagged my boss.

Different jobs.

Merryoldgoat Sun 03-Mar-19 21:08:51

*in a month.

I use to arrange deliveries of items to hospital wards. Think beds for specialist cases, commodes, etc.

Did you know there’s a Lister hospital and THE Lister hospital?

I sure do now

RandomMess Sun 03-Mar-19 21:13:55

DH got confused with the loo roll order, thought he was ordering rolls rather than packets of 100 rolls...

Took them years to get through them grin
