What do adults without children do on weekends

I seem to have forgotten.

Other than shopping. Everything feels child orientated. Or I've just forgotten how to be an adult over the last 18 years.

I think they enjoy themselves?

Our childless BIL and his wife are in Thailand at the moment. Bastards.

I used to do pretty much what I do now (country walks, national trust, art galleries, cafes/pubs, country drives) but I used to enjoy it more.

Go for a long walk. Sit in a coffee shop reading. Paint my nails. Have a long lunch in a pub.

All things I find hard to do now!

Volunteer or run at parkrun followed by massively long boozy pub dog walks in the countryside (today's plan), city breaks (last weekend) house projects, meals in restaurants...
my children are 21, 19 and 13....

Country house visits, long rambles and bike rides, dinner out.

Enjoy yourselves doing what though.

I've been netflixing. But I'm bored now and childfree weekends are becoming more normal.

I guess the gym is an option, but that's only a few hours. I think I'd get bored in a Jacuzzi after one or 2 visits.

Maybe it's time to get a new hobby

Go to brunch, take the dogs on long walks and go to new parts of town, to yoga/spin/Pilates, check our museums with new exhibits.

I do live in a major city where there's always something going on though...

I did/do park run. But that's over by 10am.

A dog walk occurs. But I guess that happens every weekend regardless...I'll need to investigate whether a boozy route is possible.

DH works most weekends so the
Sex is not really an option.

City breaks are good. But expensive can only do those occasionally. Unless someone knows how to do them cheaper.

Maybe I've just forgotten how to do nothing... But then I get bored and start working. Which I'd like to avoid if at all possible

What about galleries? Going swimming? Gardening? Challenge yourself to read x amount in a weekend
I started a C25K group that I coach/lead if you feel like there’s nothing to do why don’t you start up something

Sleep in, watch rugby, walk, garden, volunteer, eat & drink out, read, Netflix, i-player, occasional DIY (not all every weekend).

Do you read for pleasure Curiousmum?

I like to relax with a trashy novel (nothing worthy or anything that’s been within 100 miles of the Booker prize).

I like domestic thrillers with The Girl somewhere in the title meself- but there’s all sorts of instantly forgettable nonsense out there, for all tastes.

Coffee and papers

Get the train to another nearby city and get ratted in cool pubs
Get all the cleaning done one morning with loud music on and know that it'll probably look about the same until at least Thursday

We do lots of things. Some of them are:

Take the dogs for a good long walk
Gardening
Go to a castle or garden or stately home
Visit a museum
Visit an art gallery
Watch a dvd
Watch something we recorded earlier in the week
Go to the cinema
Go out for breakfast
Go out for lunch
Go out for evening meal
Have a day of batch cooking
Go for a drive - we have recently moved and are enjoying exploring
Go to a nature reserve
Go to a wildlife park
Go away for the weekend. We particularly like going to London
Go to see a show especially in London
Do some decorating
Catch up on paperwork - DH is self employed so has lots - boring job but needs to be done

Today we have walked for 3 hours with the dogs. We are going on a snowdrop walk shortly (without the dogs) and will probably have coffee and cake out. Tonight we are going to the cinema

Normally sleep till 9-10am, have breakfast & coffee while watching tv. Do few things around house, do some good food. Gym/ long walk - especially on a nice day like today. Might go shopping/ have coffee or lunch somewhere. See friends in the evening (when their kids have gone to bed 🤣) or watch some netflix at home. Glass or three of wine.
On Sundays I do meal prep for few days as well.

And yes, traveling - city breaks!
