have seen this expression a lot recently, are the users under 13. surely it's not relevant to apply to a woman. yet another shite expression doing the rounds,
what expressions give you the rage ?

To be honest with you ... I hate this, it makes it sound like you usually lie to me !!

‘Right now’ at the end of sentences.
‘So’ at the beginning of sentences.

I learned them.

No you didn't.

You taught them.

What exactly is the girl code anyway? I've only ever seen it on here and it appears to involve not sleeping with another woman's partner. Is there any more to it or is that it?

Peanutbatter Sat 23-Feb-19 08:44:05

Yes I agree Iloveliberty- To be honest with you - usually used by someone untrustworthy

and Guys.
"Hi guys, what can I get you to drink?"
"You guys ready to order yet?"
Just sounds false, why not say "would you like drinks?"

zen1 Sat 23-Feb-19 08:46:01

‘Super’ used as an intensifier, e.g ‘I was super happy to see you’. Grrrrrr

hun

I'm not anyone's hun, if you call me hun I am definitely going to Judge you.

morningconstitutional2017 Sat 23-Feb-19 08:48:45

'At the end of the day' - often an excuse for not caring about how a result is arrived at in a moral sense, just get there, ifyswim.

PalmTree101 Sat 23-Feb-19 08:51:41

Famalam

Argh that’s my new hated word.

I’ve managed to get over ‘holibobs’ but anyone who says famalam pisses me right off.

lottiegarbanzo Sat 23-Feb-19 08:52:22

I've never heard that phrase. It sounds like something incel-types might say, about trying to 'hack into' what it is to be a girl, so they can manipulate that code in order to insert themselves.

morningconstitutional2017 Sat 23-Feb-19 08:54:35

I must add 'envisioned' - no, you didn't. 'I thought or imagined' is perfectly adequate.
Will you 'trade' - I'd prefer a good old fashioned 'swap.'

PurpleWithRed Sat 23-Feb-19 08:58:24

"Just saying"

Aargh. Shorthand for 'I just said something rude or offensive to you, you picked me up on it, but saying 'just saying' I am telling you I have no responsibility for actually saying it so you shouldn't have a go at me but I still think it's true and it's for your own good'

Them: 'You are a fat cow'
Me: WTF?
Them: 'Just Saying'
Me, apparently: 'Oh that's OK then, you were Just Saying it'

GRRRR.

paintinmyhairAgain Sat 23-Feb-19 08:59:15

Oh, and when did that traditional English staple Macaroni Cheese become Mac n Cheese?

Bouledeneige Sat 23-Feb-19 08:59:26

I sort of like 'girl code' for girls. It was important for my DD when she was younger and didn't just involve not getting off with your friend's boyfriend or ex. It also meant looking out for each other, not leaving a friend on her own to get home, not leaving a friend drunk in a field at a festival, that sort of stuff. It gave me comfort that they were principled about looking out for each other. I've not really heard it apply to adult women.

Foottunnel Sat 23-Feb-19 09:00:48

“Makes my teeth itch” - hate it

paintinmyhairAgain Sat 23-Feb-19 09:01:08

Crowdo Sat 23-Feb-19 09:02:10

A lot to unpack.

ppeatfruit Sat 23-Feb-19 09:03:08

A 'pop' of colour AAAAH ; this was said on a TV interior design programme and all of us MN posters agreed how annoying it was. But it's still being said WHY????

I agree about "The end of the day" it could mean ANYTHING

paintinmyhairAgain Sat 23-Feb-19 09:03:27
