AIBU?

One of my three teens has stolen a bar of chocolate

I know it sounds petty but I feel really upset - I had a big bar of chocolate in my bag to share after lunch an hour ago and now it has vanished. Stout denials all around.

I feel like throwing lunch in the bin.

It really upsets me that one of them would go through my bag and steal from me and then deny it

Sit them down and explain that now you cannot trust any of them as they went through your personal belongings, and regardless of it being a bar of chocolate they still stole it. So whoever did it own up and we'll move on or you'll all be punished/treated like a thief.

I hate to be the naysayer but could it have fallen out in the car or something? Before you go nuclear on them

Make the money all sit cross legged on the kitchen floor until one caves in?

Is one more likely than the other two?

Any with PMT?

@Member869894
I understand it’s lack of trust plus then not admitting it.
I always tell my DC’s that if they tell me the truth I’ll less angry . Although it means thy say I’ve told you the truth so you shouldn’t be cross🙄

I'd send them to the shop to buy more then eat it all in front of them Smile

Check the bins for the wrapper before accusing.
Then whoever has taken it walks to shop and spends their own money to replace it, and gets none of it.

well I've gone nuclear and they're still denying all.

Check pockets then go into each bedroom in turn (with all the DC) to check for the wrappers?

My DS swiped a box of After Eights (and denied it) but the daft little turd didn't even have the savvy to hide the wrappers Hmm
If he'd have asked , I'd have said "Yeah help yourself" .
We have a fairly "if it's in the cupboard it's fair game" policy but these were on a high shelf and he repeatedly denied taking them.

As punishment , he was made to walk into town and buy a new box.

its not what they did its the fact they took something out of your bag without asking. its not on

Search their rooms, one will start sweating and break. Down the back of cupboards, under beds and in the bottom of the wardrobe are the usual spaces hahaha, have been through this many times with my thriving two. They must have seen the choc wrapper poking out of your bag. No excuse for going through your bag at all.

I agree labaz; I feel utterly betrayed that not only has one of them gone through my bag but also is denying it

Do you have any actual proof that one of them took it?

I can think of several ways it could have gone missing.

I don’t think punishing all of them is a good route to go down.

Do you have no idea? One more likely than others? Someone acting more guilty etc? I second searching rooms to find the wrapper. If no one has left the house, it should be there somewhere.

I didn’t think OP was saying she found it, thought she meant it was quite hidden in her bag so whoever stole it had to have rooted through her bag.

How red is your face, Op?

Have you given it to them to share?
