One of my three teens has stolen a bar of chocolate

I know it sounds petty but I feel really upset - I had a big bar of chocolate in my bag to share after lunch an hour ago and now it has vanished. Stout denials all around.

I feel like throwing lunch in the bin.

It really upsets me that one of them would go through my bag and steal from me and then deny it

Sit them down and explain that now you cannot trust any of them as they went through your personal belongings, and regardless of it being a bar of chocolate they still stole it. So whoever did it own up and we'll move on or you'll all be punished/treated like a thief.

Thank you Fivered

I hate to be the naysayer but could it have fallen out in the car or something? Before you go nuclear on them

IncrediblySadToo Sun 17-Feb-19 15:56:42

Make the money all sit cross legged on the kitchen floor until one caves in?

Is one more likely than the other two?

Any with PMT?

You could threaten with eastern world methods of dealing with thieves.... cut their hands off

I'd hunt for the wrapper.

@Member869894
I understand it’s lack of trust plus then not admitting it.
I always tell my DC’s that if they tell me the truth I’ll less angry . Although it means thy say I’ve told you the truth so you shouldn’t be cross🙄

Disfordarkchocolate Sun 17-Feb-19 16:01:16

I'd send them to the shop to buy more then eat it all in front of them smile

Troels Sun 17-Feb-19 16:03:02

Check the bins for the wrapper before accusing.
Then whoever has taken it walks to shop and spends their own money to replace it, and gets none of it.

Member869894 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:04:53

well I've gone nuclear and they're still denying all.

Member869894 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:05:36

have hinted for the wrapper . Nothing

70isaLimitNotaTarget Sun 17-Feb-19 16:05:41

Check pockets then go into each bedroom in turn (with all the DC) to check for the wrappers?

My DS swiped a box of After Eights (and denied it) but the daft little turd didn't even have the savvy to hide the wrappers hmm
If he'd have asked , I'd have said "Yeah help yourself" .
We have a fairly "if it's in the cupboard it's fair game" policy but these were on a high shelf and he repeatedly denied taking them.

As punishment , he was made to walk into town and buy a new box.

its not what they did its the fact they took something out of your bag without asking. its not on

Stormy76 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:13:37

Search their rooms, one will start sweating and break. Down the back of cupboards, under beds and in the bottom of the wardrobe are the usual spaces hahaha, have been through this many times with my thriving two. They must have seen the choc wrapper poking out of your bag. No excuse for going through your bag at all.

Member869894 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:13:48

I agree labaz; I feel utterly betrayed that not only has one of them gone through my bag but also is denying it

Member869894 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:14:52

It was at the bottom of my bag under a book

marmiteloversunite Sun 17-Feb-19 16:16:14

confusedgrin

Walkingdeadfangirl Sun 17-Feb-19 16:16:56

Do you have any actual proof that one of them took it?

I can think of several ways it could have gone missing.

Wtf?
Oh op, lots of apologising for you this evening!

Ghanagirl Sun 17-Feb-19 16:18:03

Have you asked DH?

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand Sun 17-Feb-19 16:18:14

I don’t think punishing all of them is a good route to go down.

Do you have no idea? One more likely than others? Someone acting more guilty etc? I second searching rooms to find the wrapper. If no one has left the house, it should be there somewhere.

Oh no
you poor thing blush
massive grovels to come then!

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand Sun 17-Feb-19 16:19:47

I didn’t think OP was saying she found it, thought she meant it was quite hidden in her bag so whoever stole it had to have rooted through her bag.
