Miscarriage - I've been offensive

A friend of mine has told me that she's recently had a miscarriage and I have unintentionally really offended her and I don't know what to say to make it better. She told me the news and also said it was more common than you think and I stupidly chimed in that yes, it happens to lots people and they just don't say anything. I don't know why I said that, but she's taken it to mean that I was minimising it because it happens to lots of people and they just don't say anything and get on with it. I didn't mean that at all, I've clumsily tried to explain what I meant was that lots of people struggle but don't open up about it so often all you see is easy, happy news which can make you feel worse. Anyway, I have left it that I am terribly sorry and here if she needs me. But I will welcome any advice on how to support / what to say!
