There is just no hope. I guess this is it for me now. Acceptance that I will never sleep more than 3 hours at a time (and I am VERY lucky if I even get those 3 hours)

Gotta be up in four hours... I've been awake since 1am. Not a happy camper.

Was literally about to post something along these lines myself. Feel like cleaning the house top to bottom but wouldn't leave myself anything to do tomorrow. 🙄

Oh @feejee........ its just shit isnt it. The worst thing for me....this is AFTER I had a sleeping pill. Saw my GP on Thursday and thought finally, a few nights sleep. have managed about 2-3 hours a night since then despite having SP's.

Waves wearily.
Am thinking of asking gp for tiny sleeping pill. I've had one in my life and it worked but I was wiped out the day after and I can't do that when I have my ds with me.

Is there such a thing?
I've called Samaritans, played candy crush, read, decaf coffee.

I normally get up at 6.30 so I can have a quiet cuppa before Ds wakes but am thinking of setting it to 7.15 in hope that if I do go off I'll get an extra 45 mins.

@intohell Bloody ridiculous. Have watched both seasons of The Good Place on Netflix, currently working through FRIENDS for the millionth time. GP reccomends Nytol as doesn't think sleeping pills be right for me (other meds would interfere!!) Nightmare :(

Hi friends :) sorry that there's more of us suffering this. People just don't understand.

My dp will say to me "why can't you just turn over and go back to sleep?"
Erm because it doesn't work like that.

I have fibromyalgia and it seems that insomnia is one of the biggest issues with that. I've tried every sleeping tablet under the sun. One of them ( zopiclone ) even made it worse!
I average 4 hours a night. My meds are all over the place, I'm all over the place, it's tough.
I do find that I can get a lot done in the middle of the night but around lunchtime I crash. Even got a new bed and mattress last month and am still as bad.

Hope everyone has a good day Flowers

Me too Sad . Gp prescribed zopiclone , didn't touch me - I even took 2 at once in desperation and still couldn't sleep. If I do manage to drop off it's only for a short while. The other night I woke up and thought 'yay , I've slept ' , when I looked at the clock , I'd only been asleep for 35 minutes! .

I've had insomnia on and off for best part of twenty years. Early days after a very bad week of it, I went to the doctors and he gave me old fashioned antihistamines (the drowsy ones) it kicked my sleep back into gear.
I've tried all kinds of theories when lying awake and Nytol etc, nothing really worked for me.

Luckily nowadays it's random and only odd nights, I'm sure I talk myself into it if I can't settle! Or like now I've woken up and just can't go back to sleep ....
I do feel a regular bedtime, lots of fluid throughout the day and regular exercise has helped mine tho.

The weird thing with me is that I never feel tired . I have been awake for 24 hours before now and still can't sleep- my friend doesn't believe me but it's absolutely true.

A glass of wine, Piriton and audible works for me, but I only do that if I need to sleep, otherwise I just go with the flow and enjoy some nocturnal me time. Grin

I have found my people!
I’m currently wide awake while sharing a room in Premier Inn with my husband and 2 children. ‘Tis truly grim. I can’t wait for the sun to come up.

Hey hope you guys managed to get some sleep. I realised the time and and know that I've no chance of sleep at all until tonight now. I now need to keep myself awake till 10ish tonight when I can crash and sleep. Kick my sleeping back into a pattern hopefully. For now I'm gonna drink some decaf tea with honey and see if Iron Fist on Netflix is any good.

As an insomniac and a night shift worker I will say that insomnia does not make night shifts easier, it is even harder to sleep in the day than it is at night. Functioning fully at night when your body is at the lowest ebb just makes you sick.

I slept for over 12 hours last night, but now I can't sleep at all! Clearly my body is telling me I've had enough sleep. I've got to be up at 6am for work and I'm going to be like a zombie!

I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I had a late daytime sleep yesterday and morphine induced nightmare both due to recent surgery. Hardly slept last night. I do prefer this time of year to the run up to Christmas, where my body clock goes haywire and I need to go to bed at 7 and am awake shortly after midnight. I’m slowly creeping back to a more normal rhythm but it’s never right.

Had anyone tried diazepam? Is it better than zopiclone ?
