to dislike dp's tattoos

My dp had a couple of tattoos when we met Not my favourite things unless very well done which they weren't.Recently he has had a few new ones and I hate them and he is planning more. Not sure what has started this mid life crisis and I know its his business but I really don't like them and am quite surprised how much

Have you talked to him about it? If he's determined to get them, I suppose its his body, his choice, but would he be willing to let you be involved in choosing htem?

My DH has one that I'm not hugely keen on, he would like it covering up and values m y input into what I like too

He has just come back with a new one and I said I don't like it as it has no relation to the others but he says he is getting more

Its difficult isn't it, as you've got to look at it all the time! Any chance of a cover up...?

I don't think so.I just don't like them and am quite upset as I do have to look at them and they are hideous.Mid life crisis I think as he is far too old imo but he is a good bloke so I can't really complain but this has thrown me tbh.

He's not common at all and I think people would be quite surprised if they saw them.A left over from his days in a rock band that he can't quite let go of.Haven't spoken to him since he got back I know i'm being childish but I have to make my point as I feel sick at the sight of them so am thinking this is a real problem

I've got a few tattoos, and so has my dh. We always make sure that both of us see the tattoo, as our view on them is that even though it is our (or dh's) body, I (or dh) still has to live seeing them.

You need to let your dp know how you feel.

Mmm, I like good ink but cannot stand bad tattoos.

Maybe you could say to your partner that you respect that he is determined to modify his body, and ask if you can maybe be involved? After all, if there's even just one piece on him that you feel happier about you can concentrate on that and ignore the other pieces?

YANBU to hate them. shudder

However: you knew he had a tattoo penchant when you got together, and it seems to be an integral part of his personality or he wouldn't keep having them done, so IMO you're just going to have to accept them.

I didn't know that after 16 yrs he would suddenly start adding to his tattoos when he agreed with me before that we weren't over keen on them.I was ok with the ones he had but was not keen on more I don't want to have anything to do with choosing them

Well I've been telling my dh for years that if he won't wear a wedding ring the least he can do is get a whacking great tattoo saying 'eemie forever', possibly with a heart.

He has only two problems with the idea:-

  1. he'd have to go through the pain of getting a tattoo

  2. afterwards, he'd have a tattoo.

Maybe we could get the two of them to discuss this?

Or how would you feel about a tattoo saying 'noddyholder forever'?

Just the whole look of someone with a lot of tattoos doesn't appeal to me on any level. One beautiful artistic tattoo maybe but not any more.I think he is just having one last hurrah before he's 50 but its tragic from where I'm standing but what can I do?they are permanent
