DH and his Brexit cupboard

Dh has converted two of our kitchen units into his Brexit cupboard! He has filled them up with all sorts of tinned delacacies including different beans, chilli and dogs (hot!)
He's also stockpiled toilet rolls, medicines, cleaning products etc. It's all stashed away in his new Brexit cupboard, that we have been warned not to touch! I darent tell him that the dc have already been in there hunting for chocolate. They were disappointed to find numerous bags of rice and pasta but alas no chocolate. Seems he has got his priorities mixed up! 😁
AIBU to think this is unnecessary and over the top? I need help to convince him as he talking about stockpiling and filling up the freezer and I'm dreading what concoctions I will find in there! All joking aside, it is just Dh panicking isn't it? We don't really need to be stockpiling food in one of the richest countries of the world, do we?

Surely we should be stockpiling things we won't get after the split from Europe. Wine, nice cheeses, belgian chocolates, Iberian ham, truffles, real italian pasta, maybe nutella, macarons.
I would be most in favour of making such a cupboard even if we dont Brexit after all.

Wish we could stockpile my dh's meds for his neurological condition. He can't take substitutes. Most people with neurological conditions can't.

If this causes him to get ill, I might get stabby. Last time he was I'll he had to take a year off work and couldn't drive. The stress nearly did me in as well.

Most people I talk to recently have been stocking up.

We are essentially a little island teetering on the edge of a complete shitstorm and nobody knows what trade and imports will be like in March. Considering what it’s like here when it snows and all the milk and bread has gone, I see no harm in buying a bit extra now of stuff we normally eat.

Quite a lot of people are stocking up; some are saying that, if it all turns out to be unnecessary, they will hand over their stockpile to the nearest foodbank.
I don't think he's being unreasonable. We are too broke to stockpile, or I would have laid in some tins by now.

I've been stocking up on all the stuff we import. Coffee. Tuna. Brown sugar etc. Lots of staples in the cult. Rice. Pasta.
Also medicine like pain killers and calpol.

I've been putting some stuff away, mainly particular products that my kids are wild fussy about. If we don't need it great and if we do well better looking at it than for it. I'm also not sure how well we could cushion price rises so I'm trying to put some stuff away just in case.

Hmm maybe I owe him an apology then! I'm not really someone who is taken in by scaremongering but from reading through the threads it does appear that it would be a good idea to start stockpiling.
Dh has just informed me we have an Asda delivery due tomorrow with no less than 20 pot noodles!! We don't even eat pot noodles! Apparently they were on a good offer and have a long shelf life! I hope he likes them, as he won't be running out anytime soon 😊
Just to clarify when I mentioned medicines I meant things like paracetamol and calpol. I can understand it is a very worrying time for people who rely on medication each day.

Many people have Brexit cupboards, and bad weather/power cut cupboards too.

Chocolate would be my first priority, followed by 🍷 and ☕️. You could fill another cupboard with your favourite things.

Your DH is BU. He needs to stockpile fruit, veg, butter and milk in the freezer and buy more chocolate than the children can eat so that he can barter it for petrol.

My partner has done this too, he even measured the cupboards to see how many cans he could fit in! Although the phase must be over as he's eaten most of the tins.
