So my friend is getting her hair done tomorrow and we've agreed to go out afterwards.
I agreed to go to the hairdressers with her and wait but I've just remembered I need to go to the doctors.
I live near the salon (10 min walk ) and she said she would drive to mine and leave her car and walk to the salon as she's scared driving into town.
She's asked me will I walk her into town and walk back up and meet her when she's done.
I said would it not be easier to just drive into town.
She's refused and expects me to walk her there and back.
Aibu to not?
I even suggested il get her a Uber on my account and pay.
Just tomorrow is so busy.

I mentioned that I might not be able to walk up to meet her and she said I was being selfish.
Am I ?

OwlinaTree Tue 22-Jan-19 22:50:33

She can leave her car at yours and walk on her own there and you can meet her afterwards?

Littleraindrop15 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:50:55

Yanbu she's not a child

Iris27 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:51:45

Why can't she still park at yours, walk herself to the hairdressers, and you just meet her afterwards?

flumpybear Tue 22-Jan-19 22:51:51

Who will accompany you?

IsItThatTimeAgain Tue 22-Jan-19 22:52:09

So she's a grown ass woman who's scared to drive in town and walk on her own...and this somehow makes you selfish. Mmhmm...

Iris27 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:52:09

Cross post!

PurpleDaisies Tue 22-Jan-19 22:52:21

That’s quite an unusual request. Is she normally so demanding?

hallierr Tue 22-Jan-19 22:52:28

She said she doesn't know the way but it's literally a straight road and she's walked it so many times with me.

summersoonplease Tue 22-Jan-19 22:52:57

Does she suffer with anxiety?

garethsouthgatesmrs Tue 22-Jan-19 22:53:56

is your friend actually a 5 year old child? if so yabu. Assuming not she is very very unreasonable, entitled and rude

Why on earth would you have waited at the hairdresser anyway? What a waste of your time! What is her reasoning for needing to be accompanied and why would you offer to pay for a taxi for her?

its all so weird.

hallierr Tue 22-Jan-19 22:53:55

She's very demanding.
I shouldn't of originally agreed to sit with her for 2 hours whilst she was getting her hair done.
Obviously now I need to go to doctors which clashes with hair apt.
After her hair she wants to come back to mine and change her clothes..or I would have just met her.
So I would be walking into town to walk her to mine to then go back.

hallierr Tue 22-Jan-19 22:54:39

Nope no anxiety but hates being on her own in places not familiar to her.

Jaffacakebeast Tue 22-Jan-19 22:54:53

seriously! I can’t be doing with ppl who need other ppl to hold their hand constantly. fair enough she doesn’t feel able to drive into the town, I suppose. But now she needs an accompanying adult to walk 10 minutes, come on 🤦🏻‍♀️

PurpleDaisies Tue 22-Jan-19 22:55:03

Just say no, that doesn’t work for you.

bridgetreilly Tue 22-Jan-19 22:55:07

It's not selfish to go to a doctor's appointment. It is selfish to expect a friend to cancel a doctor's appointment to 'walk you to the hairdresser'. Unless your friend is 5 years old, she is the selfish one.

Iris27 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:55:07

That's completely daft. Don't do it.

MrsWillGardner Tue 22-Jan-19 22:56:02

Why does she feel she needs you to walk her? How old are you both?

Whatsnewpussyhat Tue 22-Jan-19 22:56:29

Why is she "scared" of driving into town or walking 10 mins on her own?

Tell her no.

hallierr Tue 22-Jan-19 22:56:35

Both 33

poppym12 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:57:06

Is she old enough to decide how to have her own hair cut?
Maybe doing this journey alone will give her a confidence boost.

Cheerbear23 Tue 22-Jan-19 22:57:14

Use the good old mimsnet favourite ‘sorry that doesn’t work for me anymore’. It’s unreasonable to ask you to do this.

AfterSchoolWorry Tue 22-Jan-19 22:59:29

She sounds like a complete sap. Tell her you'll meet her after the hairdresser. Or not.

Onynx Tue 22-Jan-19 23:00:11

So why did she book an appointment at a hairdressers she doesn't know the way to?🤨 What does she usually do?!
