..after the new home,cars, holiday. What would you buy that would make your life easier, or maybe it would be something you've always wanted but is not possible to buy now?

Mine would be a live in chef, to cook me breakfast, lunch and dinner ahhhhh ☺️ I hate cooking. It gives me rage 😠

I own my own house, mortgage-free, drive a lovely car, although it is now 16 years old and could do with being retired, have good holidays and more or less all the material things I need or want
BUT
I would invest serious money in having bespoke shoes made that are comfortable and fit properly.

A morning nanny. To work from 5-8am. Get up with the kids at 5 and get them dressed and do stuff with the other than tv. I would be a much better mum if I could wake up at a reasonable time.

Agree, for me it would definitely be a housekeeper. After that I think probably an interesting range of musical instruments eg bass and contra bass recorders.

Housekeeper. Would expand my business, hire staff on great wages and give them flexible working and all the other things I think humans should have. And I’d buy a flat in Stockholm so I could go to my favourite place in the world whenever I wanted to (I’ll imagine visas to Europe are not an issue).

I'm Bravissimo in sizing, but they seem to think that enormous boobs should be shoved under your chin at every opportunity.

A holiday PA. Someone to pack, arrange smooth transit of my luggage, sort out all things for it, I just need to turn up at the airport.

An investment providing a passive income so I could do whatever job I wanted so long as I earned about £1200 a month.

Ooh, a gym would be wonderful. I hate the gym in January - it's a cold walk, and full of NY resolution people hogging the equipment.

I'd build a 20m pool and gym complex in the grounds.

Apparently, winning the lottery, and being involved in an accident and having life changing injuries - have the same long term impact on happiness. As long as the life changing injuries are stable, and not in chronic pain.

With the lottery win you have a short to medium term spike in happiness - but essentially you still eat, drink, drive around, go on holiday - just using more expensive things.and you return to a base line of happiness where you were before.

With the life changing injuries, you have a short to medium term downturn in happiness as you adjust to your new life. Then you do adjust, and return to a base line of happiness.

So basically, none of these things you think will make you much happier will, in the long term!

I think I would find a really good nanny/babysitter so I could go to the gym or out for a walk or to an evening class. That would have a massive impact on my wellbeing.

Really, Sushi? Not having to worry about money or go to work ever again would make me pretty darn happy!

Mine would be a housekeeper to do all the washing/putting away clothes/ironing/tidying up after the kids/dishes etc.

Then after that I'd buy an Olympic standard trampoline and hire a grade 3 coach to come in for an hour every day and coach me.

I don't think I'd buy anything other than clearing the mortgage - what I would have is a yogi come to my house for guided meditation and yoga every day.

But if we're really going all out, I think I could probably stretch to a personal dresser who will come in and choose my clothes whilst I"m getting my daily blow dry.

And I'd get facials every week.

That's why all my lottery plans involve sustainable differences to my lifestyle. As well as the pool, obvs.

My favourite sadface lottery story is where a couple won £2.5m.

The husband tried to launch his band, and bought several expensive cars. The wife injected it all in her lips. They sent the kids to £££££ private schools, tried to launch a spa business, and bought a 700k house.

And cried to the papers when it turned out that no, £2.5m does not actually go that far when you're a moron.

We wouldn't move (at the moment) but we'd completely gut and renovate the house.
I'd get help with cleaning, cooking and landscaping the garden.
Depending on how much we won I'd love to be able to treat myself to a regular massage, and maybe a hair stylist/mske up artist to come in daily to inject volume into my fine, lifeless hair and conceal the bags under my eyes!

Sushi - surely that would depend on the pre-win baseline? Someone who’s struggling financially, barely keeping up with bills, who can’t afford holidays or even a trip to the cinema, who spends most of their waking moments worrying about their financial situation - surely they would be far happier with a lottery win that would remove those problems?
Yes, they (I!) could still have other issues that would make them unhappy, but the relief of no longer having to worry about money would be palpable and long lasting.

I disagree, I worry about where every penny comes from, and worry about getting through the month, wish I could have days out, holidays, treats for my kids, I think I would be happier long term, purely because of that.
