AIBU?

Wtf! Do you see it?

Hi All, DH and I had a little too much fun and I thought I might be pregnant (we already have two bubbas).

Took a blue dye test and there was the most minuscule faint positive. I'm talking so faint DH claims he truly can't see it.

Took a pink dye test today and very clearly a BFN.

First off. Preparing yourself for an unexpected positive and then seeing a negative after all the mental preparation of a possible positive is just a mind fuck!

Second of all, wtf is with the two differing results?Confused I'm not approved to post photos on here yet otherwise I'd love to show you for your opinions :(

(Reposted now I can add photos!)

I see it in the big one but not the strip.

Actually maybe a little in the strip...I can’t tell

Blue dye tests are notorious for evap lines. Get a FRER.

Bigonesmallone3 · 12/01/2019 00:28

I wouldn't take either of those as positive, agree with pp u need a FRER

Report
RZNW · 12/01/2019 00:40

Guys, educate me - what's a FRER? Blush

A brand and make of test, basically, that uses pink dye. Beloved of MNers the world over.

I definitely see it!

@ReaganSomerset thank you :) x

Do we think that the blue dye positive line is an evaporation line then?

I do actually think I can see a hint of pink on the strip test - and having used them myself I know squinters on them can be difficult to photograph.

However you will want to endure the agony of waiting 48 hours and retesting, as you just can’t be sure, even with pink dye tests. When I was TTC dc2, I was absolutely convinced that most tests I took had very faint lines. When I did get pregnant you could see be difference, even on the faintest real positives. Good luck, please update!

Thanks everyone! :)

I actually did the pink dye test pictured on here yesterday - MN wouldn't let me upload pictures until today - so I shall redo in the morning and fingers crossed have a blimin' answer one way or another.

If it's inconclusive again, expect more photos! Lol xx

Remember - you can get a false negative but you can’t get a false positive.
A pregnancy test checks for HGC hormones which are produced in pregnancy and so can’t show up if you are not pregnant.

Buy an early test - they work dayafter your period was due I believe from memory!

Im.normally the one always shouting "evaporation line" but i do see a second line!!!!

FoxFoxSierra · 12/01/2019 02:57

Actually I think I can see the faintest of lines on the last picture! I hope you get more clarity tomorrow and you're happy with the result Thanks

@FenellasRedVelvetDress

You can get a false positive, actually, but it's quite unusual. Certain medical conditions can cause hcg production in amounts significant enough to trigger a positive pregnancy test, such as peri-menopause.

I doubt that's got anything to do with the OP at all unless she's in her mid - forties or older, but I do enjoy pedantry. Grin

I can't see anything on there

I’m another one who wants to shout ‘you can get a false positive’ every time I see it said on MN. Molar pregnancies, gestational trophoblastic disease, choriocarcinoma would give a positive results. Almost certainly this is irrelevant to the OP though.

Blue dye is terrible, but I do see it – and I see it on the strip, too. They took ages for me to show up clearly. Get the First Response!

Have you got another test for your first wee of the morning?

Report
Neverunderfed · 12/01/2019 07:23

I see both, very faintly but there.

Report
Surfskatefamily · 12/01/2019 07:24

I wouldnt take that as positive. Get frer and test in a few days, then a few days after that etc till your convinced of result

Report
Teenagerwoes · 12/01/2019 07:29

I see lines in both too.

I see lines on both of them.

You can get a chemical pregnancy, too. I got a BFP on a clearblue digital and started AF later that day. Presume the egg was fertilised but didn't implant. Are you actually late yet? That's the proof of the pudding.

I can see a faint line on the clearblue but not on the strip test. But, to me the strip test looks flooded and the dye has run, so it would be hard to make out a pink line on a pink background anyway.
