How to preserve a haribo ring?

Ok this may seem a bit random but bear with me 😂
My lovely DP proposed on NYE, totally unexpected (even by him it turns out) and totally lovely but without a ring!
We ended up at a friend’s house and I was gifted a haribo ring a substitute!
We’re going shopping tomorrow for the real deal but I feel strangely attached to my haribo ring and want to keep it 😂
It’s gone a tad sticky but I’d like to varnish it or something and put it in a frame to keep.
Any ideas on the best way to do this?

Also I’M GETTING MARRIED 😁❤️

Congratulations!

Do you know anyone who can set it in epoxy resin? That’ll keep it forever.

That’s very cute. Congratulations!

I think some sort of resin would work poured over the top. Then you could pop it in a box frame.

Congratulations!

You can get kits with resin for setting things (flowers etc) to make jewellery. That might work?

Ooo good idea... but not sure who I could ask? Who uses that?

You can buy it from art stores and there are plenty of you tube videos on how to do it.

Search “resin preservation” on Etsy and a few things come up- they normally do flowers but I’m sure would love the novelty of working with a gelatine sweet!

Congrats on.

My boyfriend proposed Christmas morning, biggest shock ever.

My ring was two small so is back with jewellers being re sized. I didn't want a different ring in my size as, well it wouldn't be my ring would it.

I have made resin jewellery in the past but I’m not volunteering (sorry) as I’m no expert and if I melted your precious haribo I’m not sure I could forgive myself!!

You could do it yourself. You need a 2 part epoxy resin and a mould. It would cost around £15 for both. Practise on another haribo to check it doesn’t melt and to practise getting the airbubbles out. I can link you to supplies if needed!

I would set it resin but maybe spray it with varnish or similar first to provide a solid coating. Otherwise I think the sweet could start dissolving while the resin sets and a crisp outline would look far nicer. The range normally has a kit or they are available on Amazon. Ikea do box frames for mounting.

Congratulations on your engagement!

My dp gave me a haribo ring 3 years ago and I put it on a ring holder, it’s still there now and it looks exactly the same although Iv never touched it.

If you have wedding favours they have to be haribo rings!

Yes after googling I’m worried the resin would melt it Confused
Do you think just getting some clear craft varnish would work?

You do realise you have to post pictures of both your rings now don't you? And congratulations!

@greenpop21 I’m going to frame it with the date of our engagement on it too, I was just worried because I wore it all night and it went a bit sticky (and covered in celebratory champagne) I was worried it may decay

Practice first with a different Hariono ring.
