Posting here for traffic or would it be better in the staff room?? My DD has a male teacher this year (I’m guessing in his 30’s) what on earth do you get male teachers?? I’m a teacher myself but I haven’t worked with many males and I also don’t drink so I wouldn’t buy someone alcohol (I just don’t find it appropriate) he’s a quiet enough guy. I also know randomly that he doesn’t like coffee. HELP!?

Biscuits or chocolates, same as I’d get a female teacher actually

Hidillyho · 13/12/2018 10:45

The same you would get a female teacher. Chocolates, biscuits, alcohol

BlingLoving · 13/12/2018 10:45

Chocolate, Cake, other treats. Club together with other parents to get a voucher?
What do you get the women? Candles and bath soap? Otherwise the same things - mugs, pens etc.

Butchyrestingface · 13/12/2018 10:45

Same things you’d get a female teacher, but in royal blue obv, rather than girly pink.

NonaGrey · 13/12/2018 10:50

I have bought stationery gadgets in the past (for female teacher too)

Cool staplers, bunches of pritt-stick sticks, Multi tools etc.

Skittlesandbeer · 13/12/2018 10:50

Yoikes, hasn’t it been enough months now that you’ve gotten to know his tastes a bit at least? Are we really stuck with ‘pink generic gift’ vs ‘blue generic gift’?

I’d ask my kid what they’ve gleaned about his hobbies/homelife. If really nothing comes to mind then sure, go with food. But maybe savoury food? So he doesn’t just get shedloads of chocs?

Pot of fancy mustard, for example.

Youngandfree · 13/12/2018 11:05

@Skittlesandbeer no not really I don’t have in depth conversations with the man...I am usually just drop DD and then going to work myself (also a teacher) also as I said he is quite a quiet man. Chocolates or biscuits it is then I suppose 🎅

Used to buy DS's a pack of his favourite beer, but we did know him well enough for that not to be inappropriate.

AdamNichol · 13/12/2018 11:16

I'm a (former) male teacher in my 30s.
Biscuits is good. I'd like wine, but if you don't wanna do booze, fair enough. Condiments, perhaps, there are some decent gift sets of different table sauces (assuming he's not a total wuss about hot sauce).

I barely spoke to my DDs male teacher, but I listened to things she said about him - he and his wife liked handmade and made their own jams, chutneys etc. around christmas, He liked coffee A LOT and was a 'classy' guy - Mini Gin and a mini can of tonic with a drinking jar for his birthday, End of year was a travel cup and a gift card from the local Costa (we used this one a few times - if they don't like coffee there are a ton of other choices!), and christmas was a gift wrapping pack (Paper, Tape, Tags and some little pull bows) with a twee little poem - Since November youve been shopping, barely sleeping, hardly stopping, now its late, you're in a scrape, out of paper, out of tape, hope this pack helps save the day, have a happy holiday

Youngandfree · 13/12/2018 11:19

He’s still single I know that much because my DD asked him (she’s 5!) bless her I think she has a wee crush on him 😍

DeepanKrispanEven · 13/12/2018 11:25

winterisstillcoming · 13/12/2018 11:26

DiegoVelazquez · 13/12/2018 11:26

Since he's a male I'd say get something related to tractors, dinosaurs or football.

SunnyTikka · 13/12/2018 11:29

Fatbutt, you gave a gift wrapping pack as a gift??? What if, like my family, all pressies are opened on Christmas Day?? They can use it next year though, I guess...…..

Tinty · 13/12/2018 11:29

Same things you’d get a female teacher, but in royal blue obv, rather than girly pink.

See I think this was posted in jest. Grin

I don't think PP really thinks all female teachers need pink and sparkly and all male teachers need blue and plain things.

What would you like as a teacher OP?

paxillin · 13/12/2018 11:29

A lanyard, chocolates, biscuits?

Santasushi · 13/12/2018 11:30

What would you buy a female teacher?

cloudtree · 13/12/2018 11:32

I always bought male teachers a couple of books. For his age group something like Ready Player One (Ernest Cline) or the more recent Ernest Cline Armada?

Get him a mini panettone. Thats what I get everyone I don’t know what to get!

Tinty · 13/12/2018 11:33

We got DD's teacher a big box of fancy biscuits one year, she opened them in class and had a fun question and answer session and all the Class won biscuits as prizes. DD thought it was great.

The next year we bought a big box of nice chocolates. She took them home/or to the staff room. DD was sorely disappointed Grin.

Goldenbug · 13/12/2018 11:33

Pens. You can get a packet of biros with "Mr Man" printed on them.
