Mrs May. Who's going to replace her as PM?

After her performance yesterday it's simply a matter of time? Or is it? Who is fit to replace her? I can't think of a time when there was nobody I'd entrust the country to by voting for them but now here we are. What on earth is going to happen?

I’ve no idea who’d replace her but for the sake of her health alone she should step down before this mess seriously damages her health.

Please stop calling her Mrs May. Noone called Dave Mr Cameron.

I came here to say don't call her Mrs May. No-one calls male politicians Mr Whatever.

And why should she step down for the sake of her health? Being PM is hard work, it's a job she's clearly wanted for years. Would anyone say that about a man?

Honestly, I don't know who we'll get as a replacement but there isn't a good option among the frontrunners, so it's simply a case of how bad will it be. I hope to fuck it's not Gove or Johnson. Or Rees Mogg, but I doubt even the Tories would be that stupid.

I don't think there's a single politician who has showered themselves with glory over this Brexit disaster. She's doing the best she can I suppose in the circumstances.

It’s time for her to go-she looked a right state yesterday (though I can hardly blame her!).

Boris, Gove, Rudd-it’s a depressing prospect!

Despise her as I do. I hope she stays.
I mean let's face it. The Tories are going to be in power for the next 1,000 years. Therefore its better the cunt you know than the cunt you don't.

I can't stand her but when you consider exactly which duplicitous snakes are hiding in the grass waiting to strike then suddenly she seems the more acceptable face of someone/thing that I can't stand.
Boris? Oh yes - that's what we need! Our very own Trump. Great idea.
Gove? Would sell his own mother for political gain. Wouldn't trust him as far as I can spit - and that's not far.
Rees-Mogg? You all had better hope not! Radical Catholic with all the ideology that goes with that AND a sly hateful twat into the bargain.
Andrea Leadsom - Dear God no - please! Same for Amber Rudd.

The only possible candidate (to my thinking anyway) is Jo Johnson despite his genetic heritage.

I couldn't agree more. And, although I'm not keen on her policies, she's got an impossible job and it looks like its taking its toll on her, so I feel sorry for her but yesterday was a masterpiece of keckhandedness. Dreadful. How did we get here? Presumably this is how Trump materialised, as a saviour from a pool of mediocrity, he who shouts loudest etc. No previous political failures. I shudder to think that someone will do the same here. Farage forming a new party. Ukip roping in the appalling Robinson creature. And no decent believable opposition from our traditional parties. So we need an ok Tory leader. Surely someone's up to it?

Yes, If like Teresa May they were an insulin dependent diabetic.

Churchill s health was a regular discussion topic post 45, Harold Wilson's also shortly before his surprise retirement. His deputy, George Brown, was so drunk most of the time he could barely walk. Charles Kennedy's health was also raising eyebrows prior to his standing down. So Mrs May's health may be under stress, it does not forebear comment because she is a woman. It requires comment because she is a political leader.

I also wonder if she should step down for the sake of her health

also, whatever my views on the whole thing, she stepped up at a horrible time - and to be honest, I think the next person will be stuck with a poisoned chalice as well. So rather than risk her health, at this point I think she could say "ach well, did my best" and step down. Though I have no idea who would take over or what would happen. It's bizarre.

I was looking at her yesterday and wondering 1) how she's still standing and 2) how anyone could possibly reconcile all those factions.

that said, I do think she should have let the vote go ahead.

i said to DH last night as the tv showed her going into number 10 I hoped she was going to get her PJs on pour a g&t and slump on the sofa catching up on the I’m a celebrity final! It’s a fucking mess, largely caused by too much in fighting - after nearly 3 years still no consensus. Ideally she needs to go and someone who is strong and believes in Brexit to step in. But we’re running out of time! Now I wonder if we could withdraw our art 50 letter, get a plan together and start over and resubmit a letter under art 50 once we had our shit together???? But then o doubt this would work because you would still get people shouting that we should remain rather than galvanising behind the country to get the best exit solution

Kier Starmer.

I really, REALLY hope so.

The only reason May wasn’t gone within weeks of that farcical general election last year was the complete lack of viable alternatives. This is the only time I can remember in my lifetime that there hasn’t been a single realistic possibility to step in if the PM gets the push.

Who should replace her? Give - dear god no, he would agree to anything if he was offered something nice and shiney, professor umbridge? Sorry Andrea Leadsom, fuck no! ? Boris? Maybe, just for the duration of negotiations, mind you it’s so fucked up right now, I’d half like to stick the Labour Party in power just to see what Jezza actually did (he seems keen for anything but this to happen at the moment)

Depends whether any of the other tories have the backbone to be the ones to deal with this shitshow or if they'd rather just shout from the sidelines until March 30th.

But I'd suggest there's a reason why May can't find a deal that suits everybody.

On Radio Five live this morning:

Nicky Campbell: So who should replace Mrs May? How about BJ?
Female Guest: BJ??
Nicky Campbell: Boris Johnson
Female Guest: Ah! Well I don't know him that well!

Made me laugh.

Maybe we need to find that Rhys- Morgan guy someone mentioned the other day🤣🤣🤣🤣. Some random person with that name would prob do just as good a job!

Report
surferjet · 11/12/2018 10:52

It will be typical - the woman will do all the hard work, 2 years of trying to get the best deal for the country, & I genuinely believe she has tried her hardest, she get ousted at the 11th hour, a man will swoop in and clean up & he’ll be the hero.
