To want a change in MNHQ’s stance to begging threads?

There are so many here, especially at this time of year. Disclaimer: I have been sucked in. Have more than I should have. Staunchly defended the poster in question. And was hugely disappointed to realise that I was wrong and the so-called cynics of said poster were right. My main issue is that many people succumb, sympathise and give because they have been there and know how desperate it is to have nothing. Literally nothing. And can’t really afford to give hard cash/stuff but do so because they are kind and empathetic. Which gives these scammers a lot of clover. Obviously there’s no real way of telling who is genuine and who isn’t. But AIBU to want a blanket MN policy for begging threads to be banned?
