The sex robots are coming

Just watched this - anyone else? Couldn't believe what I was watching - total vilification of women, objectification - and in the main sad old perverts who can only 'score' with a plastic object - disgusted. But frightening really as it's happening.

Well if it keeps them busy with machines..........

Well if it keeps them busy with machines? Only these machines are made to look like females? in the main unrealistic females with tiny waists, botox lips, huge breasts etc.

It's just another vile way to objectify women - and every time it's a vile looking man who wouldn't have a hope in hell of being with an attractive woman - freaks.

Leave them to it. At least it might stop them from using trafficked sex workers or prostitutes.

Not sure if that was meant to be ironic or not but it's a sad fact and I agree to a point - sad fact is these perverts/freaks are designing robots to have sex with - to the point they're creating 'voices' for them - it's disgusting and as a woman I absolutely feel we should be making waves about it - sad, sad b'stards.

Well, I have to depart with you here. There are many people in the world who are unattractive, socially awkward, who have disabilities and who are living lives of forced celibacy and loneliness. I saw a rather thought provoking documentary on this subject once. It really made me think more about the total loneliness some people face. A doll isn't going to give you a genuine hug of course but perhaps there is a place for such tools.

I haven't watched the video but I'm speaking broadly about the topic of sex dolls and robotics.

A frickin robot to portray a submissive woman - but yeah, lets ignore eh?

Well said fixitup. Sorry op but the world doesn't revolve around you, others have the right to enjoy life too.

"Perverts", "bastards", "freaks", "vile".....your vernacular doesn't leave much room for discussion OP.

But you're not 'departing with me there'. Are you implying those with disabilities/?social awkwardness?? etc should expect to rely on a bloody robot fgs - a robot that is cosmetically made to look unrealistic to what women 'naturally' look and trained to say utter shite that will only go on to perpetuate the myth men are superior to women - well not in my name, and thankfully not in any of my 'circle'

Hands up who's got a little robot that portrays an always ready man? About 70% of you? That's nice.

hamble do you imagine that there won't be boy-shaped sex robots for women to perve out on? Because you're already wrong, and not just in the "millions of vibrators" sense but in the male realdoll sense.

Does it offend? I guarantee not as offensive as the portrayal of women by the above so called 'men'.

My 'vernacular' is what I saw - happy to help :)

There is a simple way to solve the problem. Don't buy one.

YANBU, OP. These are hyper realistic dolls for men to play raping.

I don't think it will protect trafficked or prostituted women, or indeed children. I think it will just further normalise their abuse.

None. Literally no woman has one of these. A lot probably have vibrators. Which (nominally in a lot of cases) are penis shaped. The equivalent of which would be a fleshlight. These robots are not the equivalent of a vibrator or fleshlight. They are made to look like the patriarchy's wet dream of a woman.

Which would be fine in it's way if it directed some men's violent sexual tenancies onto an inanimate thing. But as is evidenced from porn, pole-dancing clubs, red-light districts and prostitution zones, this doesn't work. What happens is that some men become more and more desensitized and objectifying of women.

And I bet a million pounds these dolls will just LOVE pain and strangling and violent sex. Because supply and demand. Don't tell me men will then be able to separate the doll from actual women.

Having just read the above linked article, the quotes which stood out to me were those of the sex doll brothel owner : will allow you to fulfill all your fantasies with no limits, and that related to the injuries sustained by the sex doll at the convention: that because they didn't understand the technology and didn't have to pay, the men behaved like barbarians.

Not understanding the technology is no excuse for broken fingers. The sex doll seems to be encouraging sexual behaviour which would be damaging or inappropriate with a real life partner - how is this ever going to be a good thing? Look at all the negative effects widely available porn has had on the sexuality of younger generations. Isn't it just going to be worse when you can behave with no limits in sexual situations? Legally and easily available porn and prostitutes have not lessened trafficking and rape so I doubt sex robots would either. They would just enable men in developing a more controlling and domineering position over women, if that article is anything to go by.

Tbf OP when you describe some men like that and put them down so harshly ( a man is vile because he isn't physically attractive to you) because they are unattractive, then is it any wonder that they go this route? Now i am not saying women have to have sex with them by any stretch of the imagination but also to chastise them so much because of their looks has probably been a theme in their life or a massive confidence issue in their lives that they may not even try anymore. Do i think sex robots are ideal? No but i believe that attitudes of people like yourself are part of the problem.

I can't see sexdolls made to replicate Grotbags selling particularly well tbh. Although I might be wrong.

I work with all men. Yesterday one of them brought up these 'robotic girlfriends' and he said that if he could get one he would cancel his tinder account. Who needs the hassle of going on dates and spending money on the off chance she will shag you? The rest were scoffing saying they might get one as well as their wives. This followed by boyish sniggers until they realised I was sat there listening to them. Women have fought so hard to try and be seen as equal, so because we're no longer submissive sex slaves to our husbands, they've gone and created a fake woman who is? FFS marital rape was legal until very recently, that's how little men considered our worth. My colleagues argument was "well they have made robotic boyfriends too". Men haven't gone through the struggles that women have. Men don't fear rape. Just look at the stats on DV and sexual abuse. It's mainly aimed at women. So we are introducing another way for men to replace or remove women?

The only good thing I can see coming from this is these men who do buy one won't be able to reproduce with it.

Surely both points are equally true?

It is inevitable that human women will be assaulted the more access men have to assault something that looks like a female.

There's no way anyone on this thread saying 'it's only a robot' doesn't believe that. It's happened with every other development in hard core pornography.

I want to say 'it's only a robot' so I'd love not to care. Because frankly there is NOTHING we can do until that crime against human women happens because of it.

Hurting, harming and raping women is illegal in many countries but the law is not well implemented. Maybe we should concentrate on changing that rather than trying to bring in legislation about how lifelike robots can be before you cant sleep with them?
