Tell me what fun things she does

This is freaky!

We mainly just use it to play music (it’s linked to our Spotify account), and as a timer for cooking, maybe ask it the time or the weather as well.
My OH’s parents have several and have them linked to the lights (“Alexa, turn off the living room lights”). To be honest I think that’s mainly used by FIL to irritate MIL by turning off the lights while he’s upstairs and she’s downstairs.

We have her on my kindle.
My DD loves to ask her to tell us a joke or sing us a song!!

She keeps playing Amazon music, do I pay for that??

WTFIsAGleepglorp Sat 17-Nov-18 21:25:41

Ask Alexa why fire engines are red. grin grin grin

DollyRose Sat 17-Nov-18 21:26:02

My son loves to ask it to do silly things like 'meow like a cat' very strange
Also ask if she likes Google that one always amuses me.

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:26:29

Hahahaha they're red in the face from all the rushing around apparently!

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:26:58

Google is a search engine but she's different

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:27:48

When I discover I need something like bin bags I say Alexa put bin bags on my shopping list. When I get to.the supermarket the list of extras is on my phone

HurrahMoaningMyrtle Sat 17-Nov-18 21:32:07

We like playing Hot Potato. I think she's quite good for party games

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:32:29

I'm exploring the land of magic adventures now... dark forest?

Can you 'broadcast' on Alexa? We have Google Home and you can broadcast - send a message to any other speakers in the network. I enjoy sending spooky, unexpected ones to DH when he's chilling out or telling the kids that dinner is ready. We've had full conversations over broadcast messages

I use it mainly for setting timers, listening to music and annoying people. Oh, and proving DH wrong when I need to Google stuff
You don't need a Spotify account as you can play genres of music but not specific tracks. Plus I'm tight and won't pay for Spotify premium.

She's playing some mash banana song 🙈

FromEden Sat 17-Nov-18 21:34:38

Get Akinator. It's a very fun game. DD was obsessed with it for a while. Don't use Alexa anymore though. It's too creepy and intrusive IMO

Chaosandmadness Sat 17-Nov-18 21:36:01

Alexa what noise do hamsters make? This has to be my favourite

Bluetrews25 Sat 17-Nov-18 21:36:08

Alexa, what is in the safe?
Alexa, what is a penis beaker?
Alexa, should I have my pear cutted up or not?
Alexa, tell me a recipe for steamed badger
Alexa, can you cancel the cheque?
Alexa, AIBU?
Alexa, would you like a pom-bear?

<I do not have Alexa, btw.>

Pieceofpurplesky Sat 17-Nov-18 21:37:55

Whenever my parents are here I find them asking her really daft things and giggling like kids. They are in their 80s

It's a useful homework tool too!

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:39:48

Squeak nom nom squeakety nom squeak

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:41:05

Alexa would you like a Pom bear?

"Id rather not answer that"

Alexa what is a penis beaker?

"Sorry I don't know that one"

reddressinggown Sat 17-Nov-18 21:43:27

Ooh she read my mind!

BettyDuMonde Sat 17-Nov-18 21:47:40

Alexa works for the FBI.

anniehm Sat 17-Nov-18 21:49:36

She mostly is used as a clock radio, but I ask the weather, the time and for traffic information. Just bought one for the kitchen, on order
