In spite of the best efforts of some on MN and various right-wing Christians.

AIBU?

I'm glad. Despite what a weird section of mumsnet seems to think, trans rights have broad social support and I'm glad your school board reflects that. Now is a brilliant time to suggest your school board creates policies specifically to protect and nuture trans students, even (especially) if you think you don't have any.

"School Board" you must be US we don't have that here, also we don't really have that much fundamental Christianity, it does exist but it's very fringe and not a huge interest group.

I think YABU as we only have your word that they are bigots.

Just make sure you don't trample all over the hard won protections that exist for biological girls please.

Also, kudos to the brave women who stood strong against accusations of phobia and hate and bigotry. Wouldn't have been easy for them to go up against the 'woke' virtue signalling of the anti women brigade.

'School board'? 'Right wing Christians'?

I'm assuming you're in the US. In which case I would be more worried about sex education, evolution in science lessons, and sports teams that don't understand consent. Biological girls need access to contraception, sex ed. and abortion. In case you also wanted to look after women and girls' rights.

If you are where I think you are, I’m still laughing at Morgane Oger’s abysmal showing. Good riddance to bad rubbish. That’ll be a huge blow to his man-sized ego.

And yes, what a shame. I’m no particular fan of the right-wing Christian lobby, but at least they recognize that biological girls exist.

I feel desperately sorry for any lesbians at the school. And any gay lads. And any gender confused children with autism.

I'm in Canada. BC to be precise.

@heidithebogey2 they do have a policy and that was at issue in the election. Luckily the policy has the support of parents here.

They're not "anti-trans", they're "pro women". Smile

the kids are okay, contrary to the endless freaking out of some people. Even better, finally, the trans, gender-queer, questioning, 2S gay and lesbian kids are welcome. I'm very happy.

When the gay kids are pushed to be trans instead, and the lesbian kids are accused of being bigots for not wanting to have sex with transgirls, do you think they'll still be happy?
