Dad at nursary pick up/drop off

Okay I don't want to sound like a dick but my dd started nursary at the beginning of the month. Hours at 12-3 monday-friday.

Another child started at the same time cute little kid but my god is her dad a entitled prick.

Every day when we get to the gate for pick up we are supposed to wait until a memeber of staff comes to open the gate or press the intercom to release the gate. I usually like to arrive 5 mins early to avoid the queue to collect dd and parking can be bad in the area.

Everyday no matter what time this dad gets there it could be 10 mins before or 2 mins before 3 he presses the button for attention and demands he collects his child there and then. If he is 2 mins before 3 this holds the rest of the children up being released as they have to get his child ready first and then he wants to stand in there and chat to the staff about his child's day so it's not even like he is in a rush so has to collect early he just does it.

On the drop off he pushes past parents who are their to collect their children from the morning session and yesterday he pushed passed me and demanded they do his other child's settling in session there and then despite it being schedualed in for 2pm (it was 12 o'clock a huge change over with children coming and going the staff were just sorting all these other children out) they tried to tell him no it had to be at 2 as all staff were busy with the other children and his child would need special attention they wouldn't be able to give until 2 once all the other children were settled for the afternoon he kept cutting them off saying no I think its fine to do it now.

I didn't see the outcome of what happened as another memeber of staff came and took my dd and said goodbye to me but aibu to be so sick of this shit already he's just a wanker refuses to wait with everyone else and definately won't stand in line for anything. I am 21 weeks pregnant so could be hormones but he really gives me the rage and I feel like I'm not far off saying something. I do think the nursary need to toughen up aswell though and tell him nursary finishes when it finishes and he is holding up all the other children and parents by expecting this special treatment every day.

Don't say anything to him. Let the nursery deal with it. He's pissing them off too.

Sounds justified to be annoyed. He needs to mind his manners

I just think all the staff are so nice they won't say anything and this will carry on. When will it all end though? Will be be walking into class when his dd starts school and demanding her out?

Not your problem. The only solution to dealing with annoying pick-up-parents is to enjoy your maternity leave then go back to work leaving someone else to pick up and drop off for you! Grin

According to my friend there's one on every playground. She has 2 dds both in school.

YANBU you'll have to leave it to nursery to handle but he sounds like a nightmare. Poor nursery staff having to deal with him every day!

Oh I wish I could go back to work! I'm currently a sahp I was promised some work that fitted with dd nursery hours and it all fell through at the last min I'm still looking but as soon as I mention I'm pregnant nobody wants to know. I do kind of work from home though I've an online shop selling handmade gifts (knitted mainly)

Urgh there was a dad like this at my DDs school. All the parents queued up and the teacher passed out children as their parent reached the front of the queue, this one dad would never ever queue, he'd just march in the gate and straight past everyone standing there. Gave me the rage but no-one would ever challenge him as he was a traveller and had a bit of a violent reputation Hmm

Slow going though feels like more of a hobby! No i won't say anything im quite polite usually I just rage inside every time I watch him let in first or push past every other parent.

There was one like this at our nursery. He never held the door for anyone behind it, would barge to the front, commandeer the staff and keep everyone waiting, exactly as you describe. I’m not proud of this but I heard my very loud Asperger eldest say “my mummy says monty’s Dad is a tosser.”

I disagree that it's not OP's problem. She's explained how it affects others.

I would have a word about it with the staff OP. I wouldn't let some entitled idiot take up my time every day!

He's going to be in for a shock when his child starts school!

As they say, there's always one. The one from my nursery started behaving a bit better when one mum said, nicely (honestly nicely) " is there something wrong with your dd, because I promise it doesn't show" and upon getting a very strange look from entitled-mum, continued "only we thought there must bebecause you can't wait until picking up time, and you have to drop off absolutely immediately...... well, you know, instead of waiting until the staff are ready.....and it makes everyone late..." with an innocent little head tilt. Before head tilts and tinkly little laughs were a thing. The mum was better after that. (That was in Surbiton though, so not likely to be sworn at or hit.)

I'd actually mention it to staff on the basis that if they do raise it with him they can legitimately say "We've had some complaints from the other parents."

This reminds me of a dickhead who pisses me off every day. Parking near school is a nightmare, and you have to be there at least 15 minutes early if you want a spot. Otherwise it’s tough bananas and you have to park quite far away and walk.

So there’s this asshat and his wife who every day turn up about 2 mins before school ends in a massive old 4X4 and just plonk it wherever suits them, usually parking at least 4 people in. They then lumber slowly into school, without a care in the world, take their time getting their dc from respective classrooms, and lumber on out again about 10 minutes later, leaving whichever unfortunates got parked in that day waiting for them.

It’s been many years of this and I seriously have the rage with them.
