AIBU?

To think I shouldn't be expected to go to BILs birthday dinner?!

ILs are celebrating BILs birthday at a rather nice restaurant. Under normal circumstances I would go. I'm not BILs biggest fan but I would always put on a smile and go as a family unit. However, I had a tooth extraction on Friday last week that had some complications. Long story short, its gotten infected and I have a face the size of a house. I can only see properly out of one eye, and the antibiotics I'm on are making me feel rotten. I'm in alot of pain and have no appetite. AIBU to think I shouldn't be expected to go to this family meal tonight? DH thinks I should still attend and is being quite stubborn about it.

No way! Your dh is a test fir making you go home. Stay home and dose up.

OutingMyDog · 24/09/2018 17:49

I think it's fucking ridiculous to expect you to attend in those circumstances.

FFS sorry. Keypad problems Blush

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 24/09/2018 17:53

Fuck that for a game of soldiers. You're ill, you can't go.

CatboySpeed · 24/09/2018 17:53

Seriously? Fuck that, stay at home. Of course you’re not being unreasonable. Your DH however....

fuzzywuzzy · 24/09/2018 17:53

Is your husband usually this insensitive and uncaring towards you? I’d ignore H and dose up on painkillers and enjoy a quiet evening in to myself. What exactly is your ‘d’h expecting you to do at a dinner where you can’t eat and are in pain?

InstagramPork · 24/09/2018 17:54

I agree with @WorralLiberty. You should definitely jadfiewahnds

serbska · 24/09/2018 17:55

Obviously you shouldn’t have to go!

MsHomeSlice · 24/09/2018 17:56

i am guessing this means he's going to have to drive himself and not have a drink?

NailsNeedDoing · 24/09/2018 17:57

Why does it matter to him so much? Is he hoping you'll drive so he can drink or something?

l0stmummy · 24/09/2018 17:57

He thinks it would be rude as the tables already booked and we should show face Hmm

MrsMozart · 24/09/2018 17:58

Tell DH to naff off.

l0stmummy · 24/09/2018 17:59

He isnt a drinker so I have no idea why he's being so stubborn

Are you normally told what to do and where to go? If you are then you have bigger problems than your current situation. But fuck that, no way would I go. If he wants to sulk, throw a tantrum or whatever, he would be told to grow the fuck up.

Sleepyandtired21 · 24/09/2018 17:59

If he makes you go I think it’ll be v clear to the other people there that you aren’t at all well and shouldn’t really be there

MaggieMagpie357 · 24/09/2018 17:59

You're ill! Would he still expect you to go along if you were puking your guts up? What a tosser. Stay home and feel better soon. Mouth infections are bloody horrible.

WhiteVixen · 24/09/2018 18:00

Tell him to go and show his own face. You need to stay at home and rest.

Gazelda · 24/09/2018 18:00

DH can still go.
But you should definitely not feel pressured to go. You're not well. You need a sofa, a blanket and some TV. Not a group of gawping family members watching you as you struggle to take even a sip of drink let alone eat any food with any dignity.

theworldistoosmall · 24/09/2018 18:00

And so what if the table has been booked? That means nothing. Not like the seat has actually been paid for, and even then well shit happens.

There's nothing stopping him from going, is there? Was he hoping for a lift home? It's his family. You are ill. Don't leave the house. I hope you're better soon Flowers

Doubletrouble99 · 24/09/2018 18:00

Chairs can easily be moved around it's not as if they will have prepaid like you do for a wedding. These things happen.

TwoOddSocks · 24/09/2018 18:01

Errr of course you shouldn't go. DH will be fine on his own surely and BiL will understand unless he's a complete idiot?
