Just that. Not a fan of Rees-Mogg but no child should EVER be targeted so horribly anywhere, let alone on their doorstep. I am just so shocked that anyone thinks this is ok.

liberal twats being vile human beings while virtue signalling furiously. whats wrong with these people? something serious.

GingerBadBoy Wed 12-Sep-18 16:35:37

i mean birdsgotta fly saluting this abuse of ReesMoggs children. vile.

Ellen7262 Wed 12-Sep-18 16:36:46

I did see my local Tory MP who's voting record proves him to be nothing short of a sociopath the other day with his kids and stuck my middle finger up at him, so perhaps I'm not the best to answer this question.

TheFaerieQueene Wed 12-Sep-18 16:40:54

I agree with the OP.

I called out a famous twitterer about this very subject and was not particularly satisfied with their response.

I too loathe JR-M and call him out as a wanker at every opportunity, but his children are innocent and should be off limits.

raisedbyguineapigs Wed 12-Sep-18 16:41:00

The thing is now they have given jrm the moral high ground. That stupid idiot has been played like a fiddle. Him and for that matter the idiots running the Labour Party have made the hard left look like the idiotic throwback they are. Shouting abuse at children while they wait for the Revolution.

VeryBerrySeptember Wed 12-Sep-18 16:41:49

Horrible whatever your politics.

ScrommidgeClaryAndSpunt Wed 12-Sep-18 16:47:47

I cannot stand the man or his views at any price, but having a crack at his children is completely out of order.

I understand that (some of) the people responsible have form for this sort of public shithousing, though. They turned over that cereal cafe in Brick Lane a while back if I remember rightly.

Wow you're vile @ purple.

He may not be a nice man, but why attack his kids? They haven't done anything wrong have hem.

YeTalkShiteHen Wed 12-Sep-18 17:01:40

PurpleTrilby your first sentence is absolutely spot on.

Your second is abhorrent. Well the part about his children anyway.

AsAProfessionalFekko Wed 12-Sep-18 17:03:13

It's not acceptable to 'target' anyone - what happened to discussion and debate?

Xiaoxiong Wed 12-Sep-18 17:04:06

Propatria's post isn't stupid - Ian Bone has gone to Eton in the past to protest and was shouting at the boys (the last I remember was back in 2011 or 12, sometime around then). He's written about it on his blog and also wrote some truly awful things in his column in the Socialist Worker paper when an Etonian (a child, still at the school) was killed on a trip by a bear.

PawneeParksDept Wed 12-Sep-18 17:05:54

Yes absolutely @raisedbyguineapigs and that's why JRM just stood there and took it because a camera was rolling and the other guy had lost without JRM so much as opening his mouth

Thing is, MPs get targeted at their homes quite a lot.
This was rare because it was filmed.
And this article has numbers lower than reality as not MPs responded.

DH is an MP. My kids are not allowed to answer the phone, or answer the door. We have CCTV to check before we open the door. We had panic buttons installed & our home is on a police register. We have a fire-bomb proof letter box. I had to explain all this to the kids. I had to explain what happened to Jo Cox.

Yesterday an email threatening to kill MPs and their children was sent to lots of MPs.

I’m alone at home with the kids during the week. It can get scary. Other MPs wives have had people hammering on the door shouting abuse in the middle of the night.

No matter what you think of the MP or their policies, involving their kids is shit.

AsAProfessionalFekko Wed 12-Sep-18 17:06:33

I remember the socoalist worker lot when I was a student. God they were a bunch of loud, arrogant, bullying bigots.

LongWeek Wed 12-Sep-18 17:07:49

I know there are people out there who think it’s acceptable to shout at my primary aged children because their dad is a politician.

And people wonder why more women don’t become MPs.

propatria Wed 12-Sep-18 17:08:25

Its on youtube, one of the boys hes shouting abuse at is my eldest,my youngest was very annoyed when Bone didn't turn up as he promised last year..

PawneeParksDept Wed 12-Sep-18 17:08:53

Jesus @LongWeek how absolutely awful for you

Xiaoxiong Wed 12-Sep-18 17:10:31

Again, attack people's politics, not their children. JRM shouldn't have had to bring his kids back inside, he's entitled to have a walk with his family just like any other parent.

I also think the stuff about his having a nanny is bullshit TBH, unless we have certain info that he is exploiting her or holding onto her passport or something like that. If merely employing a nanny is indefensible then we can kiss goodbye to any hope of getting more women, with or without children, into parliament or other positions of power. Judging from the childcare boards on here that would make plenty of MNers unelectable.

Defrack Wed 12-Sep-18 17:11:22

@LongWeek. May I just apologise to you for all that has happened to you and your family.

Your husband does a tough job and even though many times we whinge and whine about mps overall they do a tough job and work hard in an attempt improve the country.

They may get it wrong and do horrible things, but that doesn't give us the right to abuse them and their family be it at home or on the street.

Xiaoxiong Wed 12-Sep-18 17:12:54

Longweek thanksthanksthanks that sounds absolutely awful. I'm so sorry, please stay safe.

Awwlookatmybabyspider Wed 12-Sep-18 17:13:34

Yes I agree. It's not the child's fault their father is a plummed gobbed upper upper class toss pot.
However let's also twist things the other way. The lone parents they're sanctioning left right and centre. It's not their kids fault their parents can't get jobs...
If I had to swear on oath I do see where shark is coming from.

Bluelady Wed 12-Sep-18 17:19:54

It's quite ridiculous to harass an MP's children for his party's policies. And, much as I agree that the suffering inflicted on people in our society by this government is appalling, shouting at innocent children isn't going to improve the situation.

LongWeek Wed 12-Sep-18 17:19:56

And we’re small fry. Most of you would probably never have heard of DH. We’ve not had many death threats, and we’re low profile.

High profile people get a whole extra layer of abuse. (And more security & more CCTV etc)
If the death threats against family get severe and are considered imminent, there might be extra measures like reinforced bedroom doors for the kids in case of intruders.

LongWeek Wed 12-Sep-18 17:21:00

And we get police advice on what to do if we’re followed etc.
