That happened 4 years ago!

She even got me over to her computer to show me her itinerary hmm

I can be happy for people and when they come back from holiday I of course want to hear about it, see photos etc

BUT when they’ve been banging on about it for the 2 years I’ve kmown them and it wasn’t even recent then, aibu to just want to scream - shut up already!

lol where did she go? I hope it was somewhere spectacular at least

How odd.

Just ask her WHY she keeps on about an old holiday?

Ask her if it's because she can't afford another one.

RoseRuby26 Sun 12-Aug-18 10:24:01

Yanbu. Just don't engage. Or repeat "yes, you've told me"

MrsSteptoe Sun 12-Aug-18 10:26:25

I am really conscious of this and keep wishing people would stop asking me about my holiday (a couple of weeks ago). We went on a one-off and I really feel like I'm being a holiday bore, but I'm trying not to be, IYSWIM. I feel like everyone must be hearing me describing "well, we started on in.... yes, it was.... "

Has she nothing else to talk about? Crikey.

LynetteScavo Sun 12-Aug-18 10:43:08

Hasn't she been on holiday since?

Lydiaatthebarre Sun 12-Aug-18 10:45:34

YANBU. I'm not even particularly interested in people's recent holidays apart from 'yes we had a lovely time. Weather was nice, hotel was lovely' end of. type of conversation. People giving you a blow by blow account complete with endless photos just make my eyes glaze over.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset Sun 12-Aug-18 10:45:35

Ask her if it's just because she can't afford another one - how fucking nasty. What if she can't?

What if the OP cannot afford a holiday, and this colleague won't shut the fuck up about HERS?

Now THAT is 'fucking nasty.'

ScreamingValenta Sun 12-Aug-18 10:55:54

It sounds a bit strange - perhaps she struggles to find things to talk about and views this holiday as the one thing she's done that makes her interesting. I think you should try to be kind about this. If she starts talking about it again, say something like 'Yes, I remember you told me about that last week, it sounded great.'

ApolloandDaphne Sun 12-Aug-18 10:58:14

How very weird. Is it the only holiday she has ever had and was it to a spectacular place. Maybe she feels the need to relive it over and over. Does she have quite a small and boring life?

Sevendown Sun 12-Aug-18 10:59:12

Was it Orlando?

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset Sun 12-Aug-18 11:00:58

C'mon your comment was about whether she could afford it or not - so obviously a dig- not believing your backtrack for a sec.

I guess it's holiday season, everyone's talking about holidays. This was her best one so she's talking about it?

Sisgal Sun 12-Aug-18 11:03:07 why are you so angryhmm

BarefootHippieChick Sun 12-Aug-18 11:07:51

Was it Orlando

No, probably a B&B in Blackpool.

Aridane Sun 12-Aug-18 11:10:37

Lol - this thread has generated a holiday add called ‘travel swagger ‘ in the sidebar!

EdWinchester Sun 12-Aug-18 11:13:27

That is very weird.

I give holidays a scant mention at work on my return as I don't want to be a bore. But 4 years later? Where the fuck did she go?

DerelictWreck Sun 12-Aug-18 11:15:28

KatieLouise3 you are all over the boards today acting like a dick - is something the matter? Would you like to share with the group?

Winebottle Sun 12-Aug-18 11:18:04

Holiday chat is boring unless it is an amusing story or somewhere you have been yourself so can compare. I know people who have been travelling for a year and I haven't even spoken to them about it.

hannnnnnnxo Sun 12-Aug-18 11:19:30

Sounds like she hasn’t left the country since, and yet still wants to brag to colleagues and ‘compete’ with those that have been on a recent holiday

IsTheRainEverComingBack Sun 12-Aug-18 11:23:15

Bless her, I feel sorry for her. Sounds like she can’t afford another holiday but feels she needs to fit in. I probably say ‘you’ve really told me all this many times, I don’t need to keep hearing about it’ but try and be kind

astoundedgoat Sun 12-Aug-18 11:26:41

Totally depends on where the holiday was and if it is relevant now.

There's a huge difference between "OMG, this one time, in Ibiza..." for years on end and "Oh - you're going to Vietnam in September? I was there for 1 year in 2014 and got to know it really well - can I show you a really unusual itinerary with some awesome food?"
