I will start by telling you mine but not saying I'm perfect either! Yesterday while driving to Aldi (a short distance away) I met a cyclist who was cycling towards me on the wrong side of the road! Next a car in front of me braked suddenly and turned right without indicating and then to top it all off the car park was almost full when I got there with not 1 but 2 small cars parked so badly that both used 2 spaces each! I managed to park in the end thankfully so tell me what your driving/parking pet hates are....

What an awful collection of dafties in one day, OP! That would annoy me too, but I mostly get people driving in the outside lane doing 50 and refusing to pull over to let me past. When I get fed up with repeatedly flashing them, and overtake them on the inside (empty) lane, they get annoyed and hoot or make rude gestures! What is wrong with these people? What happened to “Keep well to the left in normal driving”? Is it not in the Highway Code any more?
Thankfully I’m retired now - it used to be much more of an issue when I was an on call hospital doctor trying to get to an emergency!

yes oblivious motorway lane hogs annoying

But so are impatient weavers popping in and out no indication etc

Ditherers am I or aren't I OK maybe I will and little movements of the car all over the road

People who drive with no allowance for others mistakes - so right up the back of another car, accelerating to last minute then slam the anchors on

People with only on or off on the accelerator pedal

Oh dear there are quiet a few

People who don't stay in their lane, particularly people who feel that it's okay to "cut the corner" when the road curves or those who think that because they drive a stupid big SUV that they get two thirds of the road.

Drivers who leave huge and I don't mean two car lengths or something, gaps in a queue of traffic.

Report
IWantMyHatBack · 10/08/2018 12:57

I often leave huge gaps in traffic so I can just keep a consistent speed, rather than constant stop-starting. Helps traffic flow too.

I hate people who use the wrong lane on a roundabout then cut you up. No need.

IWantMyHatBack · 10/08/2018 12:59

Tailgaters are the worst though. Hate it so much, and it's so dangerous. There's no need to drive so close to people, it's not going to get you there any sooner

Anyone not using their indicators.
Tailgating.
Anyone who stops so far back from a red light that they aren't even over the sensor area.
Stopping in hatchings.
Those who excessively accelerate, brake, accelerate, brake all the way down roads with speed humps.

I hate male drivers who target me just because I’m a woman. I drive a small car with baby on board sign on the back. I was driving recently and this silly man get going right up behind me and dropping back again. I could see him ranting away in the rear view mirror. His face was red with rage. I found it quite funny actually. I wasn’t driving slowly but I was not going to be bullied by this halfwit into going over the speed limit. When I turned off onto a different road I saw him raise his hand in the air clapping slowly. I feel sorry for his poor wife.

Tailgaters.

Driving with your fog lights always on. My work mate does this as she says it makes the car look "pretty".

Driving at 18mph in a 30 zone for no discernible reason (today).

Using turning circles as parking spaces.

And people who use their phone when driving (especially those who text) ought to have their licence taken away.

Yesterday a bloody bus had pulled in at a bus stop. I over took safely but the driver decided to pull out just as I was over-taking. That scared the crap out of me.

Slow drivers
Stupidly fast drivers
Agressive drivers
People who don't use their indicators
People who are determined to get in front on a merge in part of the road
Tailgaters

You've just reminded me of some more and slow drivers holding up all the traffic drives me 😡 and also people driving too close behind as I always think they're going to crash into the back of me.... another one is I can't believe in this day and age with all the media awareness that people still drive while holding a mobile phone (often in newish cars which would have Bluetooth so why??) and I've seen drivers who have their down while obviously texting/messaging!!

That was meant to say drivers who have their heads down while obviously texting/messaging

Inability to recognise that a two-minute delay is unlikely to be a matter of life or death. Unless you're a first responder, obvs.

People with poor lane discipline particularly on roundabouts.

People who hesitate at junctions.

Tractors that refuse to pull over or even try to stay on their side of the road, causing a huge build up of traffic behind them.

Slow vehicles that do likewise, not pulling into the many passing places to let people behind them get by.

People who think amber lights mean green.

People who think red lights mean green!

Oh the driving while female shite is the worst. I used to drive a very "male" car. A sort of middle aged man on wheels. Now I drive a Nanamobile. Nothing has changed about my driving (I'm a good driver, not impatient but decisive and excellent at parking).
In my man car I never, ever got beeped or bullied on the road. In Nanamobile it happens once a week-just men in Audis tailgating me, not letting me out, cutting me up, refusing to give way when it's my right of way.
I think I'm going to sell it.

People who don't use indicators - and yes, you need to use them in car parks too. People don't become magically psychic just because you are in a carpark, moron.

Tailgaters.

Cyclists who try to undertake you, even when you have been indicating left for the last ten seconds or more.

ChipsAndMoreChips · 10/08/2018 13:10

The fact they exist Grin

Honestly, so many things annoy me...

Not indicating
Lane hogging
Not in the right lane on roundabouts
Not merging in turn
Tailgating
Driving too slow/fast for the conditions
Using mobile phones
Overtaking then slowing down in front of you?!

  • People with no lane discipline on roundabouts.
  • Cyclists who cycle on a busy road rather than use the cycle path right next to them.
  • People who pull out of T junctions without looking.
  • People who stop on the slip road before pulling out (so dangerous).
  • People who drive far too slowly causing traffic to bunch up behind them and the stupid impatient people who then make dangerous overtaking manoeuvres to get past them. As my driving instructor used to say, you need to "make good progress"
  • people driving erratically because they are using their fucking phone when they are driving. I had to swerve off the side of a dual carriageway to avoid one of those recently when they decided to pull in to my lane oblivious to the fact that I was there.

I don't know if it's just me, or if it's where I live, but there seems to be a lot more dangerous driving around now than say 10 years ago. I have a dashcam now.

The number of drivers who appear to have bought cars with no turn signals (indicators) baffles me. I thought they were standard equipment but apparently not, must be a new mind-reading requirement on the driving test - maybe I need to upgrade my license. Lane weavers are a fact of life here (USA) where it's legal to pass on any side but they amuse me in our heavy local traffic because they never get any further than a couple of car lengths ahead despite their intricate car choreography.

Tailgaters just need to fuck right off and I am NOT sorry about the one who ran his pickup right over a mess of tangled car wreck parts in the exit lane. I saw the obstruction around the in plenty of time to move over to the other lane and avoid it and he didn't because he was too fucking busy trying to intimidate me into speeding up - too close to my back bumper to see what was in the road ahead and he hit the gas to zoom through. No not sorry at all, in fact I may have laughed as I saw him pull over to the shoulder in my rear view mirror. Hope the damage to his truck wasn't minor.
Other than that I just generally hate the fact that other drivers get to use my roads at all.

People who can't use roundabouts correctly! Don't indicate left if you're not taking the next left! Drives me insane! People who just don't take any notice of lanes e.g left only Lane is not the lane to take if you want to go straight on! Stupid woman nearly took me out by being in the wrong lane and was completely oblivious!

There are obviously quite a few but not indicating is the one that really gives me the rage. When you start off learning, you learn to indicate when turning - at what point do these lazy fuckers decide 'Nah, that's not for me'. It should just be habit! Angry

Tailgaters! They make me want to drive slower and slower, till they get the meassage.
If they don't piss off, a couple of jabs on the brake usually shits them up makes them back off! 😂😂😂😂
