Have name changed in case my neighbours are on here and this whole scenario is just so bizarre...
I left a tray of just baked crumble on the garden table to cool about half an hour ago, covered in foil.
Just now I looked out the back window and ... It's gone. The whole thing. The way our terrace works, anyone who wanted to enter our back garden would have to come through five others, and the back wall is too high to climb/jump. So I really doubt an aspiring burglar has made it all the way down without being spotted at this time, then decided all they'd take was a crumble? Which leads me to believe it's more likely to be a neighbour, specifically next door...
To preempt any questions:
- It isn't in a fancy Le Creuset pan or anything, just a bog standard Sainbury's ceramic tray.
- I'm home alone and my DH isn't due back until late tonight (plus I have no idea why he would sneak home, hide the crumble and then not come in...)
- It is far too heavy for a fox or giant bird to move even if they did suddenly take a shine to home baking.
- Next door are unlikely to be stealing it out of hunger - this is a pretty expensive area to live (we rent but most others here own and they're not cheap), plus plenty of holidays, nice cars etc. Admittedly here I am guessing as I've no idea what their actual financial situation is, but outwardly at least they don't look on the breadline.
So... What the fuck? My AIBU is WIBU to go and politely ask next door if they thought I was covertly leaving them a gift!?
