Mine is in November and I'm dreading it already.
I have friends who've done it and they say it isn't as bad as it looks.
I think the thing to do is to set aside some undisturbed time and slowly work through it.
Also speak to your manager, they must've helped others through it.
I'm sure that once it's done and submitted we'll wonder what all the fuss was about!

I revalidated last year. It was fine.

Look on the nmc website for templates.

Anything I can help with?

Did mine last year
Took me ages to get my head round it, and then a colleague who had just done it, showed me hers and it all makes sense ! Website isn't logically set out i think

Got mine in 2 weeks, did all my paperwork yesterday afternoon. Use the templates on nmc website, really straight forward. I was worried too but now I've don't it, it's really not that bad

Everyone seems to stress about it right up until they knuckle down and do it. Then the theme seems to be 'oh, was that it?'

Contact some of your recent students for some feedback if you haven't been 'saving up'. We're usually very willing to shower praise on people that have helped us feel confident in what we're doing Smile

I was one of the first to revaildate in my trust. It's super easy. Use the templates on the NMC website. I decided to do mine on paper and only upload it to the computer if it was requested to be seen by the NMC. It wasn't. After I'd finished, I've re-printed all the blank pages again and I'm keeping a rough working document to keep track of my CPD hours ect. Hopefully that will make it quicker next time for me.

Don’t stress, just done mine, as others have said follow the NMC template and look at the example they give you. I had mine done within 2 hours , good luck and shout if you need help

Oh its fine honestly. I had work colleagues email me feedback for that part and took photos of a plant given to me by one patient and a card given to me by another patient.

Your reflections don't have to be very long at all. Mine weren't anyway as I despise writing reflections.

You have all your mandatory training etc that goes towards study time.

Its nowhere near as bad as people think/make out. So just do one bit at a time e.g. this week sort out feedback stuff, next 2 weeks reflections, etc

Contact your Trust library too - ours is running reflective reading for revalidation sessions, you gain CPD and help to write one of your reflections, which you can then use to help with the others.

I've revalidated andbeen a confirmer for a number of nurses now. The longest part is the reflections, try to think now about one thing that you can reflect on and link it to the code. Does your trust offer you an online portfolio? We are able to import all of our e-learning and roster onto a revalidation portfolio that we can then submit. Feedback doesn't have to be written, verbal feedback is acceptable as long as you clearly document it. Happy to help if I can.

I found it very straightforward, do you have a revaluation lead?, as angelnix said reflections took the most time, other than that it was a painless process, certainly not worth quitting over

It's actually fine I also have adhd and am
Also dyslexic so it took me longer than my friends but even then it only took me about 5 hours collecting the evidence (I had just moved) and April 7 hours to write it up. once I had worked out who I had to speak to as I have a non clinical manager, I actually enjoyed the talking through the examples I gave and found it a pretty positive experience. Also now I know what to do I am so Writing it up as I go.

Good luck it seems a bit extreme to give up over this. Even my old boss who nearly retired as he was worried, he was 65, did it and was glad he did and he continued to work for another 18 months.

Just echoing what other posters have said. It’s not that bad. I was really stressed about it and then when I sat down and just followed the NMC templates it was fine.

I also did mine in stages. You need 5 reflections so maybe try to think of 5 things to base them on today and then write one a day?

Your feedback can include lots of things. I had 3 from colleagues, a card of a student and a complaint. I also used the complaint as a reflection and part of my reflective discussion.

CPD can be lots of things too. Any shadowing or supernumerary time, study days. I stressed about it for ages before actually doing it but once you get going it’s fine. Good luck and you’ll be fine

Once you get started it’s not too bad

I was one of the first to do it. It was fine I promise. As pp said once you get started it's not so complicated.

It's really not that bad, but don't leave it until the last minute!

Breeeeeathe!!! Wine

You've still got ten weeks to get it done, some people I know did it all in like one hour/evening! I'm sure you've done all the stuff already, just need to get it all together and down on paper!

Soooo...
CPD: do you know what training you've been on in last 3 years? Make a list of it, make sure it adds up to 35 hours in total, then write it up in the NMC template, done.

Reflections: use the template from the NMC website and get writing, you only have to do a sentence or two for each point minimum.

Feedback: Do you have any appraisals? Thank you cards? Could you ask colleagues/students to write you a statement? 5 of them and done!

And breeeeeathe!

Yes I know it’s a zombie thread but I’ve just sat down to do mine. It’s a palava isn’t it. All the Covid we’ve worked through I expect that’s going to form a big part of everyone’s this year!
