especially not if the rider needs to make a billion point turn to park in the front garden.

and surely it's not legal to ride on the pavement?

noisy and inconsiderate bastard.

I've seen it all on here now. People will literally complain about anything. How do you people get through life with so many other people living in close proximity?

have you heard the noise a harley motorbike makes?
delivery rider bikes are much less noisy in comparison.

I am with you OP- they are extremely loud. I can hear the neighbour coming back from streets away

They are legal and where else is the rider supposed to keep their motorbike?

One would assume that even Harley riders have to live somewhere! Or are they expected to park a mile away from any houses and walk home from there?

DH considers himself a motorbike aficionado and says Harleys are NOT for serious riders, just for show off twats (he says!)

Mine doesn't make that much noise. I'm not sat revving it in the drive anyway 😂
There's a lot of other bikes that make a lot more noise.

I would rather have the sound of a Harley than one of a moped , they sound like a bad tempered lawn mower and a washing machine with colic have mated

Harleys are loud, that's their thing.

My neighbour has a non Harley motorbike which I can hear for five mins after he leaves the street! I don’t mind it apart from when he sits revving the engine/warming it up for ten minutes in the drive....makes the house thud/vibrate.

the neighbour is an show offy twat for sure.
it's just so inconsiderate.

I don't 'get' harleys. they sound broken.

Angie - I was just going to say that!
Mopeds are so much worse, like super sized hairdryers and often with young people playing about on them.

Davros ShockBiscuitGrinto your DH - lol.

There is nothing you can do really except fart really loudly in protest.

Jesus. Get a life. Or some earplugs if normal motorcycle noise offends you.

So where should a Harley Davidson be?
In Monument Valley, Peter Fonda driving and Jack Nicholson riding pillion. Definitely showing my age here 😉

Your DH sounds like a bit of a twat himself if that's what he says Davros. If he's such a motorbike aficionado he might want to drop the snotty attitude towards a classic brand of motorcycle with a well-deserved reputation for excellence, reliability and performance. Admittedly I could be biased because my DH has had HDs for the last thirty years because he is a serious rider.

Is he sat there revving the motorbike at ungodly hours of the morning and night? Or just using it as a mode of transport? You can't ban them from residential streets just because they are noisy.

A Harley Davidson isn't "normal" motorcycle noise. If car alarms go off just because you've driven past at 30mph (I've seen this happen!) then whatever you're driving is too loud.

My housemate has a motorcycle which I barely notice when he's leaving or coming back.

The excessively loud, souped-up cars, mopeds, and motorbikes should not be allowed on the roads. I do wish they'd put a decibel limit on engines.

I'd love a Harley! But presumably it would be OK because I don't live in a "naice" part of London.

Sparklesocks · 24/06/2018 22:16

I think it would only be an issue for me if at anti social hours (like middle of the night or very early in the morning) but otherwise I wouldn’t mind too much.

neighbour comes back each night about 10pm.
rides on the pavement from the street corner (only dropped curb far and wide) then does a gazzillion point turn to get into front garden. waking up half the street and stinking the area out with the fumes.

to the question what he should do with his bike?
how about selling and getting an oyster card?
