With your very loud petrol lawnmower?

Yes of course it is

Stephisaur · 24/06/2018 20:11

Given how unbelievably hot it has been today, I would say yes.

Oh.

I'll sit here and be annoyed silently then.

Angry

I wouldn't have a problem with this. In fact I think DH is planning to do ours in an hour or so when it's a bit cooler.

Yes. Christ almighty.

It would be unreasonable to expect him or her to mow it in the heat of the day, so the alternatives are early morning or now. Would you prefer early morning?

Phew DH is out at the moment, although it's a flymo so not the noisiest.

I would but I know both neighbours have teenagers. I probably wouldn’t if they had little ones.

OhTheTastyNuts · 24/06/2018 20:14

Yup, totally reasonable!

Is the noise bothering you?

I'd prefer thick, long meadows in every front garden.

And lawnmowers to be outlawed.

I'm going to have to get all the way up and close the windows aren't I?

Why would it be unreasonable? It’s no louder than at 4pm but a whole lot cooler.

Early evening is the best time to do it. I'm just about to do ours and then I'll get the hose pipe out.

wouldn't bother me

It wouldn't bother me to be honest. Stick your music on op and relax with a g&t

When the children where we live are up at 7am screaming in their gardens, then yes, 8pm for mowing is absolutely fine!!

Report
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2018 20:15

Good time to do it IMO.

Yes. Perfectly reasonable.

8pm seems sensible when it's so hot earlier in the day but I can see why the noise would be infuriating.

Petrol mowers are loud whatever time they're used though.

Call the police op. Confused of course YABU. Don’t be so silly!

I don’t think 8pm is too late, unless you have children/babies that will be in bed by then and your neighbour knows this.
It has been hot today and it’s cooler in the evening to do the mowing.

What I think is very unreasonable is when a neighbour of mine started mowing his lawn at 5.50am last Sunday morning! Needless to say he got a tongue lashing from me having woken me up!

Processedpea · 24/06/2018 20:19

yes it would bloody bother me alot, after 8 it's nice to hear the birds not a lawn mower.

I wouldn't do it myself. Its not really fair on people with young kids

NotARegularPenguin · 24/06/2018 20:21

I would rather hear it now than earlier on when I was sunbathing.

8pm to start, with petrol, yes, that is a bit late. acceptable as a very occasional thing.
