To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

Nothisispatrick Sun 24-Jun-18 11:30:13

Where are you? It's 22 here, and a bit cloudy.

French2019 Sun 24-Jun-18 11:32:05

Where are you? It's lovely where I am (Midlands)and I certainly wouldn't describe the heat as blistering. Our summers are really very mild compared to many other countries. Perhaps you just need to find new ways of keeping cool?

Sortofcool Sun 24-Jun-18 11:32:54

I’m with you. Once temp
Goes over 68 I’m utterly miserable. I have dysautinomia and can’t regulate my thermostat. So just strolling about in this I look like I’ve stepped out the shower. All my clothes soaked and hair plastered to
My head and dripping down my face and neck. Roll on autumn

I’m with you OP. It’s intolerable! Not helped by being heavily pregnant. As you say, sun and heat on holiday is great. At home, not so much. Sweaty, sticky, muggy. Ugh.

Bluntness100 Sun 24-Jun-18 11:33:33

Agree where are you? I'm in the south east and it's currently only about 21.

Amanduh Sun 24-Jun-18 11:35:11

I love it! 30 degrees by the end of the week 😍

French2019 Sun 24-Jun-18 11:37:09

Intolerable? How hot is it? It's only around 20 degrees here at the moment, predicted to go up to around 23 this afternoon. That's very firmly in the "comfortable" category as far as I'm concerned. Is it much hotter elsewhere?

blackteasplease Sun 24-Jun-18 11:37:11

It's not even very hot ! I'm in London and it's far from scorching!

We have so much rain and miserable cold weather in the UK it's a bit much to begrudge a little bit of sunshine!

Bluelady Sun 24-Jun-18 11:38:16

Fabulous day here. How can people moan about this beautiful sunshine when we get so little of it? This is what summer should be like, it's not even hot, just pleasantly warm.

South east here too, it's sunny and breezy and I'm a large lady (size22) with back to back hot flushes and I still went for a 5 mile hard cycle ride.....it's really not very hot at all.

A few months ago MN was awash with won't this winter ever end......I hate snow....it's so cold.

Dress appropriately, drink cool fluids, carry a fan.....stay in the shade

A few months back we were in Australia and it was hot and by that I mean really hot, but people still go about normal lives

HazelBite Sun 24-Jun-18 11:44:05

I wll never moan about the heat here again.
We have just come back from Texas (family wedding) every time we left our accomodation/got out of the car DH's glasses steamed up, in short it was like opening an oven door!!!

SoupDragon Sun 24-Jun-18 11:46:09

There are less than 3 months of hot sunny days in this country. I love them and feel thoroughly miserable for most of the other 9 months.

I guess the good thing about the weather here is that you get something for everyone.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks Sun 24-Jun-18 11:48:15

It's not the heat I have a problem with... it's the having to do stuff in it that I have a problem with.

When my only concern is whether to get off my arse and go in the pool or not it's great, but when I've got to cook, clean, shop and do laundry I hate it!

SoyDora Sun 24-Jun-18 11:49:05

21 degrees here, lovely and sunny but with a nice breeze. Certainly not blistering hot!

Fluffyears Sun 24-Jun-18 11:53:20

It’s nice in Scotland, I can tell it’s warm as I saw a pensioner India the top button in her duffle coat 😂

Honeyroar Sun 24-Jun-18 11:57:02

I don't like really hot weather in the uk (my horses hate it and it's extra work keeping them cool and fly free)but I think it's been pretty nice this year - dry and sunny without the great heat. I'm hoping this forecast heatwave isn't as hot as they think.

We deserve a proper summer after that proper winter!

Lizzie48 Sun 24-Jun-18 11:57:47

I would never moan about it, after the really long and cold winter we had. My DDs are loving the heat and that they can play outside! There's a real feel-good factor about this summer. Also, last year there was so much rain that DD1's Sports Day ended up not happening. This year, we've had them both now and the weather was perfect.

The heat isn't good for me, though, as I'm currently going through the menopause and I'm coping with hot flushes. sad

unintentionalthreadkiller Sun 24-Jun-18 11:59:18

I love it.

Astrid2 Sun 24-Jun-18 11:59:22

It's been mild for a couple of days. YANVVU. Enjoy it and stop being such a misery!

It's going be max 23 degrees here today, hardly scorching! Tomorrow on the other hand...

And I am 9 months pregnant

Furrycushion Sun 24-Jun-18 12:01:03

It's a lovely day here. 21 degrees, no wind. Not too hot over night at the moment. Due to get very hot this week though. If your house is hit, close all the curtains, and close the windows on the sunny side. Open them when it's cooler outside the window than inside. Get a breeze through the house in the evening.

SadieHH Sun 24-Jun-18 12:02:38

Ah, I love when Mumnetters in random parts of the country get to decide whether you are hot or not...
