As far as I'm concerned, it's not over until it's over. Other people might want to sit back and watch our country go down the pan economically and socially, but I'm not one of them.

Also, just to correct you slightly, OP: it's not a march against Brexit but a march in favour of a People's Vote on the final deal.

Yes, I know, UmSrsly, but needed to get the word 'Brexit' into the title, as a lot of people won't have heard of the People's Vote, whereas everyone's heard of Brexit! I'm fairly sure a massive proportion of marchers are going along not necessarily to support the idea of a people's vote, but to show their opposition to the stupidity of Brexit.

Of course its pointless - many of the losers can’t accept the democratic vote of 2016 when the people spoke to leave the EU and all its institutions. There will be no second referendum and the remoaners need to accept that. I voted remain but as a democrat I accept the result.

I accept the result. That's fine, Senior. If you want to watch the country go down the pan and stand there 'as a democrat' stoically watching things go tits up, that's entirely your prerogative. It's a free country. However, even the government's own impact statements don't paint an optimistic picture of the future, so I want to be able to look my DC in the eye and say I did what I could... I protested, I wrote letters to my MP, etc. I do understand, though, that most people are apathetic and prefer to placidly watch events unfold around them while doing nothing to try to effect change (and often moan about the effects afterwards).

Sadly I can’t be in London today but fullynsupport the protest.
Brexit meant 33% voting to leave the EU based on lies and cheating. It certainly wasn’t democracy. It is going to have a huge negative effect - sadly mostly on those who voted to leave.
Places like East Kent are already economically challenged and Brexit will make it worse.
Skilled workers will lose their jobs. The NHS will struggle to find staff.
Prices will rise significantly.
If it can be derailed, it should be and our MPs should be brave enough to act in the best interests of the country not just worry about their own vote count.

I really wish I could go. I'm very upset that DD and I will almost certainly be stripped of our EU citizenship rights through no fault of our own. I made use of them when I was young (spent 18 months working in the Netherlands) and I really wanted DD to have the opportunities I had. Doesn't every parent want that for their child?

But as DD is a young baby and we live a long way from London, it's not really practical for us to come. I hope you have a great turn out.

IMO 'will of the people' is right up there with 'Brexit means Brexit' in terms of its meaninglessness.

Yes, but, as is clear from your many contributions on other Brexit-related threads, you look at life through a pro-Brexit filter, don't you? Well, I'm sure it will come as no surprise to you that I don't. I work with a lot of colleagues from the EU who have been working here for decades, contributing to our economy, paying taxes etc., and who were unable to vote. I'm happy to look them in the eye and say 'not in my name'.

I don’t have the energy to debate Brexit on here anymore - I just bang my head against a brick wall if I feel like getting that experience but I note that some people are still so utterly brainless as to think that peaceful protest and political engagement is undemocratic as opposed to being the absolute fundamental cornerstone of what democracy is.
