AIBU?

WIBU to leave 3 month old and 21 month old for 2 nights?

I have a week old baby and an 18 month old. I have been invited to attend a work jolly to Majorca all expenses paid for 3 days/ 2 nights in September.
I will still be on maternity leave and plan to continue breastfeeding my youngest (assuming he will take a bottle of expressed milk) and will express enough milk to last the few days. DH is happy to take a few days of work for me to go but do you think it's too early to leave the littlest? I didn't leave DD overnight until I'd stopped breastfeeding at 6 months and feeling guilty for considering leaving youngest sooner.

I personally wouldn't but only because it's abroad.
I would if it was in the UK.

They’ll be with their dad so providing the younger one is happy to take a bottle then I’d do it and enjoy the break.

As long as you’re comfortable with it definitely go and enjoy!!
I went away for 3nts to Spain last month to celebrate a milestone Birthday. DS (then 5mths) had a fantastic few days with his Daddy and tbh barely noticed I was gone! And that was a shock as he was a BF, co-sleeping little limpet baby! Did us both the world of good x

Thats a lot of pumping!

Also, thats nkt leaving your children. It is going away while their father has them.

Go. Enjoy.

No way, not if you’re breastfeeding. Though the thought of being away from mine makes me feel a bit sick and if you’re happy to do it then it doesn’t matter what we think!

This is one of those questions that other people can’t answer for you... it comes down to your family and situation. I would not have left my dd at 3 months irrespective of who was looking after her. Certainly not while trying to pump. 3 months is still pretty tiny.

I would, and did. Left a freezer drawer full of milk and went away for 48 hours for KIT with work. Got snowed in and had to stay another 24 hours. I pumped (a lot) while away to maintain supply, had some 'interesting' discussions involving an over the clothes demonstration with airport security staff about what the pump was because I wouldn't be separated from it, just in case it went missing in transit! Baby was fine with DH and MIL. He was very happy to see my boobs back again!!

No but I think holidays are family so would either take them with me or not go. A night out at that age I'd be fine with if they were with my DH.

Well I can hardly take the whole family on a work trip can I?
I do worry about pumping while I'm away too.

Nope, go!!!

I went to Portugal for a work jolly while my twins were little and I was still on maternity leave, I had a great time!

I wouldn't leave a 3 month old baby tbh, and definitely not if bf.

IME tiny bf babies get so much more than food from breastfeeding...it's also their comfort to a huge degree (was with mine anyway). My youngest would have been inconsolable at that age without being able to feed for a weekend.

Go for it

Most people on here but probably would say go for it. But personally no, I couldn't do it, especially not when breastfeeding. There's no right or wrong and depends entirely how you feel, etc.

Not really sure why I wouldn't go as DP is a wonderful hands on father, very capable and theyd have a blast together, I just wouldn't want to be so far away from DC I suppose.

Do whatever you feel is right and if your DH is happy to take time off work, and your baby is okay taking a bottle, there's no reason not to go.

I couldn't tbh, not only because both of mine bottle refused but because the pang of separation would just be too much. Not a popular view but I just feel like they're little for such a short time it's not such a big deal to miss a few jollies.

I went away for a weekend which was basically one long pub crawl when she was ebf and I pumped and dumped the weekend.

I wouldn't worry leaving two kids with their dad for the weekend.

Go. Have fun. And speak to other adults
