AIBU?

To contact my interviewers about the job?

I went for a job interview last week. I was told they would let me know either last Friday or yesterday. I haven't heard a thing.

Should I contact them tomorrow or give it a few more days?

Or not contact them at all and wait for them to get back to me? But if so, for how long?

I would say an enquiry email tommorrow morning would be fine but word it carefully when I was hiring I viewed dimly a " you promised me to let me know and you haven't type email " but perfectly reasonable to ask for an update

I would advise against ringing....much more on the spot

Good luck

I personally wouldn't contact at all. That's just me though.

Definitely contact them. A friend of mine went for a job 2 weeks ago and still hasn't heard back. He called them yesterday and it turns out the manager went off sick straight after the interviews and they can't make a decision until he's back. But at least friend knows what's going on and shows he's still keen on getting the job!

I think tomorrow is fine, along the lines of:

Dear Mr Interviewer,

Many thanks for your time on Friday, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and hearing more about x and y and discussing how I might be able to add value to project z.

I wondered if you needed any further information from me to assist in the decision making process and what the next steps might be?

Kind regards

Wings

Thank you so much for all your replies; so helpful.

I've decided I will contact them tomorrow, via email, along the lines suggested by Edwinbear.

Fingers crossed!

It's very presumptuous and would put me off you as am applicant. If you went through an agency chase them otherwise politely ask if there is any feedback

Yes contact them tomorrow. It really isn't presumptuous and definitely wouldn't put me or my colleagues off you as a candidate. And I say this as a very experienced and senior recruiter for a large public sector organisation.

The interview panel have not met their agreed timescales, which could be due to a variety of reasons. But I can see no issue in you calling to ask for a progress update. It definitely wouldn't go against you in my organisation. Indeed it wouldn't even be reported to the recruitment team.

Upto you but from past experience I really doubt you have got the job

Another one saying contact them. They have failed to meet a promised deadline. That could be a bit of a red flag about the way they work. Or it could be as simple as someone being off ill, as evidenced below. Either way, it would be good to know

Charming greendale!

Speaking as a recruiter it could be because other candidates scheduled for interview were sick - as has happened to interviews we had scheduled today. The sick candidate will be interviewed next week which means the 3 interviewed today will have to wait a week longer for their interview results. And if they call HR to ask why they haven't heard anything they will be told.

Or a senior manager suddenly decides that they want to review the the decision of the interview panel.

So many reasons OP.
