20 weeks pregnant and good lord! Got up this morning and feel like my fanny is about to fall out. Horrible heavy feeling, like I'm about to prolapse out of myself. It hurts to walk. What is this? How can I stop the pain or at least relieve it a little? My poor vagina. I could cry...

I’d google SPD in pregnancy or Pelvic Girdle Pain.

It’s hideous Sad

Do you have any lumps? I asked because for some reason bartholin glands have a tendency to abscess in pregnancy and that often starts off with a heavy feeling and progresses into a horrible pain. Poor fanny

I would call your midwife, but I am paranoid as all my children have been premature and that sounds like one of the symptoms of labour for me!

theoriginal I'm not sure I haven't checked but it does feel like that sort of pain. Doesn't feel spd related. It's more of an ache in my labia. Ouch!

overmy really? It doesn't feel like a labour type pain, but then again I've never had a baby before. I do hope it's not that and certainly don't feel like it is!

Yep I had that. Like I had been repeatedly kicked in the fanny by a horse. Not fun.

Sounds like varicose veins which can be very painful. You may have them until after you give birth unfortunately. Maybe look for some supportive underwear or shorts which might make it more bearabkle.

Freeze a bottle of water and then put it inbetween your legs. Helps the swollen foof situation

Have you had a look with a mirror? Agree with PP who suggested vulval varicosities. Not terribly uncommon in pregnancy; usually recede after the birth. Less commonly, you can also get them further up inside the vagina so that they're not immediately visible from the outside.

I had the exact discomfort you describe at about 25 weeks. Heavy aching vulva and my labia felt tender and heavy like someone was hanging weights from it Blush

Midwife said it was normal and just by body adapting to growing baby.

Not saying yours is the same but mine eased after a while and I had a trouble free pregnancy. So it could well be nothing to worry about. .

I had SPD.
The pain was worse then giving birth. Sad

Ooh, I've had that odd 'heavy' weights-hanging-from-food feeling too. Thought it was likely something pelvic floor related?

I had a horrible heavy feeling in my labia when pregnant and was brave enough t have a look. It was swollen and purple! - entirely pregnancy related and went away almost straight away after the birth.
But for me it wasn't a sharp pain or difficult to walk, but it was pretty uncomfortable to stand and felt very heavy and not nice to cross my legs but I didn't feel there was anything to worry about. Perhaps if yours is a bit worse than that it would be worth a mention to midwife. Being pregnant really is a time for weird and irritating bodily changes!
