Well, to answer your title... i am, i ve good pension pot, no mortgage, 2 properties and savings, plus an Irish passport, my daughter is 1/2 Australian.

Brexit even if it turns out well in 20 or 30 years wont help any of us in our 40s or 50s and the oldies who voted for it, will be long dead, an extremely selfish act.

I tried to post on the filled up thread and haven't had time to read it, but what I wanted to say was that YANBU and that there are a lot of deluded people in this country and a lot of dishonest MPs who are screwing us over for their party or because they stand to make millions out of it. The rest of us will suffer a massively reduced NHS, poor job prospects and a whole lot more. People who talk about respecting the vote are even more deluded as it was an undemocratic vote in the first place. 😡

I've sold my house in England. Cut all financial ties with it and will be taking Nationality in another European country.
The UK is a joke among my European friends. They can't believe the stupidity. I agree. I'm ashamed to be English right now.

I would have preferred a Remain vote, but the endless sneering at the outcome and at those who voted Leave is so tiresome.

The referendum offered a choice: by definition, both options were legitimate choices. We need to accept the process and move on.

I follow Leave EU and Vote Leave on facebook. I tried to post this on their pages but questions like this never get past their moderators, maybe some Leave supporters here can give me some reassurance. I'm really getting very, very worried about the future. Facts not flag waving please.

29th of March at midnight, we leave the EU. If we have not made any other deals or arrangements with the EU we fall onto WTO trading rules. This involves recording/checking all imports/exports to/from the country and collecting tariffs on goods . We don't have anything like enough customs facilities or personnel to deal with this traffic. Every port in the country would become completely clogged within an hour. About 50% of our food is imported, and stocks would run dry after about five days assuming people continued to shop normally and not panic buy. We have about two weeks supply of medication in stock as much of this is also imported.

David Davis's solution to this when asked on the radio the other day was to just not do the checking and wave through imports from the EU. But to do this would be in breach of WTO rules. A way around this would be to open the doors to every other member of the WTO as all members (without a specific trade deal between them) have to be treated the same. Fine, goods are waved through (no standards would apply or tariffs collected) , but supermarket shelves remain stocked. Problem, if EU countries did this then they would also be in breach of WTO rules and they would have to apply the same conditions to every other nation. The EU would never do this as it would be far, far, too damaging to their economies. So, we are back stuck with clogged up ports and empty shelves in supermarkets. Hungry people riot and loot.

I can't find anybody who can dispute this summary, with facts, not just flag waving nonsense, and point to reasons why it can't happen. I have tried to post on Leave EU boards on Facebook but my questions just get moderated off so nobody sees them and is able to answer.

Forgive me for being sceptical of your scenario. If we wanted Brexit bad enough it would happen. The chattering classes don’t, so it won’t.

The thing that amazes me the most is how incompetent and arrogant our government is. Also how so many people don't give a toss about Northern Ireland which is proving to be the make or break of Brexit

I'm a remainer but if I was a leaver I would be furious at the mess the government are making of Brexit.

Other than that it seems that we are heading for a serious crash that is going to help nobody. If the poo hits the fan I cannot see the government or the gutter press owning up to having some responsibility in the lack of a decent deal. They will probably blame the evil EU and the horrid EU migrants. The political climate in the UK is toxic right now and doesn't show signs of improvement.

Personally we are about to pay off our mortgage, have bought foreign currency and have opened an account in euros. We are planning on opening a bank account abroad. We have a stash of food and medicines to last a month - if that's not enough we have a way out.

I don't think you will get many reasoned answers on this thread OP. I was gobsmacked at some of the prolific posters on the other thread.

Even that clown/traitor corbyn would have made a better fist of it (he hates the eu) than this bunch
