So I just saw an ad for herbal essences but shampoo and it was all about nature and it’s even gluten free.
AIBU to think that most shampoo you can buy is gluten free? And that this is being pointed out because a number of people “avoid gluten” because it’s on - trend, not for genuine medical reasons?
I totally understand if you are coeliac/gluten intolerant there should be alternatives available and I’m not bashing you - lots of peopl have actual diagnosed medical issues with gluten and I’m not disputing that. I do have a genuine question though - can gluten in skincare products and shampoo cause a real issue?
Haha - I do wonder if they’re intending it to sound good enough to eat! I thought maybe it could cause a rash or something if you were coeliac. Like if you’re allergic to nuts and someone touches nuts and then shakes hands it can cause a reaction.
Even with Coeliac it’s bollocks as the protein molecule can’t be absorbed by the skin. Only time it’s needed is for a gluten allergy (coeliac is an auto immune disease not an allergy) which is incredibly rare. Trendy bollocks shite
My ds (12) is coeliacs, and has multiple other allergies. I have to check shampoo/soap/etc for dairy and nuts, or he will react badly, but not gluten (well, I've never checked for it in the past and don't plan on starting now). However, I'm allergic to herbal essences, gluten free or not it makes me look like I've been badly burnt.
