To send back my new mattress?

It arrived yesterday. Left it unwrapped for the day as advised to 'air'. It still smells! I spent a dreadful night awake smelling like I was in a petrochemical factory!

Do new mattresses always have such a strong, weird smell??

Was it comfy though? If it was great then wait a few days.
We got a Casper mattress recently and it smelt for a couple of days but is now fine and is sooooo comfy.

No, it wasn't. It was harder than in the shop. I need a softer mattress snd I tried it out in the shop but the new one seems harder 😢

If you’re not happy, send it back. I ended up sending one back to John Lewis three times! It became a bit of a saga in the end and I had to cancel my original order and buy a different one. But a mattress needs to be right.

Is it memory foam? They smell for a long while.

It will soften over time. The one in the shop felt softer because it’s had people lying on it.

The smell will go. I’ve had memory foam mattresses and spring mattresses and they all smell in the beginning. Give it a few weeks.

We sent ours back because of the smell, it just didn’t go. We used the spare bed for SIX WEEKS while we waited for them to pick it up and it still smelled!

The replacement didn’t smell at all.

It's got an attached Therapur topper on it which is supposed to be a cooling thing. I have a 40 day return policy on the mattress I think so will see if it softens at all in that time. I'm a side sleeper and it was marketed as good for that. Woke up with backache this morning ...
