Kids using my bedroom to take selfies

Not long been “allowed” to follow DD on Instagram.

Have previously had words with the kids using my bedroom (or really messy/needing decorating) parts of the house to take selfies to post online (my room has mirrored wardrobes floor to ceiling).

Mortified to see she has posted photo of herself - in my bedroom - and behind her in the mirror is a pile of clothes/underwear I haven’t put away and Durex Lube on the bedside table. Her father (we are divorced and have NC) and his wife have liked it.

Joking aside I find this REALLY bloody intrusive having the inside of my BEDROOM plastered all over the bloody internet. AngryHmmShock

Tell her to remove the pic and no more selfies in your room. Job done.

A friend of DDs once criticised the border in my bedroom. Spurred me on to redecorate. Mine is mirrored too and the crap that can be seen. And the dust and cobwebs in the bathroom.

Fortunately I don't give a shit.

How old is she? Why is she in your room?

Put the lube away! Jeez. Whether she was in there for a selfie or not she still would've seen it. Be a parent and set the boundaries.

Eh?

She’s 18 nearly 19 and they go in there when I am at work.

Don’t seem to quite get why it pisses me off so much.

Why? What would they need to go in your space for?

My bedroom has always been out of bounds so if they go in there and see lube that’s their own problem.

Lock the door.

They go in there solely to use the mirror when I am not around.

constant selfies and daft posing is shallow.

Go in her room, take selfies showing all her mess and post it on Instagram. Tag her. Or whatever it is that connects her to it on instagram.

Tell them to stay out of your bedroom. They’re old enough to be told ‘no’.

Ugh. I have younger DC and hate hate hate it when other DC go into my bedroom during hide and seek games which I always say as out of bounds! I tell them all off!!

No way would I be pleased if my own DC went in & took selfies in my bedrooms without my permission either. Defo have a word with your DC, 18/19 or not, that's such an intrusion to post photos with your bedroom as background regardless of what state you left it in. FGS there are shared communal rooms in house and your bedroom is not one of them..!

Ps. Put away the lube tho. And demand DC deletes photo. I'd be saying
" You must have respect for boundaries.. I've asked you not to go into my bedroom. + Do you need a big mirror in your room? "

They have been told but am fairly sure most kids break rules when they think no one will know.

You are "not allowed" to follow her?..you are the parent, it's up to you whether she has an Instagram account at all...you make the rules, either she lets you see what she's posting and gives you the password or she deletes it...and if she wants to post something to Instagram there should be a rule that you vet the pictures to check that you are ok with her putting them online...

If you don't patent her then she will take advantage of you and you will end up with embarrassing situation like your messy bedroom online
