AIBU?

That he has a 'weekend' alarm

Massively pissed off. Went to do something for DH on his phone as he was driving and he has a "weekend alarm" set for 9:59am. I get up EVERY weekend morning, despite the fact I work full time from 8am until 4pm.

I'm so annoyed he's taken this for granted to the point where he has a special weekend alarm.

AIBU to think he's taking the piss?

Our DD is 18 months old btw and wakes at 7:30 ish at the weekends. I get up at 6am every day and sneak away to work.

Men!!! Ahhhh I feel ur pain, change the alarm time to 6.00

Batmanthedude · 26/05/2018 20:16

Do you have children?

BrutusMcDogface · 26/05/2018 20:17

Eh? Surely you'd know if he was taking the piss before seeing the alarm? If he always stays in bed and expects you to come down with kids every weekend day, then yes, he is royally taking the piss.

Also- 9.59?! Why not 10.00?!

Batmanthedude · 26/05/2018 20:17

Why do you not have one day each for a lie in. Have you spoken about it before?

3dogsandcounting · 26/05/2018 20:17

Why do you have to get up OP? Do you have young children? Did you not realise he was getting up at 10am?
Instead of being pissed off, could you not arrange to take turns on having a lie in?

HipsterAssassin · 26/05/2018 20:17

Have you not already noticed he gets up later than you? Confused

Neverender · 26/05/2018 20:17

There was always that possibility that he'd 'tried' to get up with our daughter and wa simply too tired, but now it feels like he's just been taking the piss!

Oldraver · 26/05/2018 20:18

So if you sneak off to work, is your DH supposed to be looking after your DD ? If she wakes at 7.30 does he just leave her ?

Neverender · 26/05/2018 20:18

Yes, he got out of bed at 11:55 today. I know it's happenin, it's just the fact he has a permanent weekend alarm makes me feel like a total dickhead.

I don’t really get it! Surely an adult can put alarms on for whenever they like?

Batmanthedude · 26/05/2018 20:19

Why have you not said before, get up?

Neverender · 26/05/2018 20:20

This isn't about week days - he does the drop off at Nursery every day and I stay out of it. It's about the weekends.

Ubercornsdiscoball · 26/05/2018 20:21

I don’t get it. Why does the alarm make any difference to what has been happening?!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/05/2018 20:22

Yes, he got out of bed at 11:55 today

Excuse me, I think THIS should have been the thread title...

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 26/05/2018 20:24

But how can he stay asleep after his bany wakes up?

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 26/05/2018 20:24

Baby! Not bany lol

elephantscanring · 26/05/2018 20:25

Why not talk to him and say that it's fairer if you each have one lie-in at weekends?? That's what most people do...

Elspeth12345 · 26/05/2018 20:25

Start going for a morning run/walk at the weekends so he has to be up at 7am? :-P

Neverender · 26/05/2018 20:25

Maybe Paul- it's just I thought it was ad-hoc and I was doing him a favour not now it seems not. I feel so crap that he has a 'plan' every weekend. I'm knackered, working full time, looking after my elderly DM and trying to complete an MBA. I'm the breadwinner, if you like and this is like being kicked in the face.

youarenotkiddingme · 26/05/2018 20:26

He got up at 11.55 today.

Well clearly the alarm doesn't work then!

Seriously the alarm IS NOT the issue. The issue is the lack of shared care.

Elspeth12345 · 26/05/2018 20:26

Maybe every other weekend would do.

Just speak to him and say one day a weekend each. If you've not said it pisses you off he probably thinks you're ok with the arrangement

fruityb · 26/05/2018 20:28

Why aren’t you kicking his arse out of bed at the weekends?

SleepingStandingUp · 26/05/2018 20:29

So you get up at 6 and sneak off to work, he gets up 7.30 with the baby and then is the SAHD?

Does he feel like he deserves time off from her?

I think you need to roll over tomorrow, poke him and tell him she's awake and its his turn
