AIBU?

to ask if you too have a small podge when you are seated?

It's my main area of issue. I hate it. I have a podgey bump when I'm seated. When I;m stood my stomach is practically flat with a small bulge.

My podge seems to be above my knicker line when seated.

Please tell me it's normal?

Even really slim women have this.

It's no biggie, honestly.

As those of you who have looked at who I am, I do have some MH issues and this is a big thing for me. So I'm posting this so I can see, just how normal it is.

Looking at shops online and the waif like models with perfect stomachs then here's me with my Buddha belly...

So please, do tell me it's not just me?

If you didn't have the 'podge' when you sat down you'd rip open when you stood up Grin you're 'longer' stood up so the 'excess' has to go somewhere when you shorten your body by sitting. Look at sleb magazines, they photograph size 6/8 women sitting in bikinis and go on about the holiday pounds and are they pregnant and flaunting their curves but when they stand up there's no 'podge' or very little 'podge'.

Good point Slapbetcommissioner

I really do focus on my stomach. I hate it. Unfortunately I have quite a deep scar to one side (think appendectomy type scar) which indents my stomach on my waist line so to me, everything buldges from there.

I think it's dawned on me as we have 2 weeks until we go away and I am dreading wearing a bikini

Yes it's normal to have a small podge when sitting, you would need to have zero body fat to have nothing there and that's not healthy. Also remember model photos are photoshopped, they are not a realistic representation of a female body.

Embrace the podge it's completely normal

I thought everyone had this? I bloody hope every one has this.........

My stomach is pretty flat even after 3 dc when I’m standing but when I sit down the podge does appear

Standing up or sitting down I have a very large podge. But I'm clinging to the hope that I'm more than the sun total of my podge..

Does everyone's bulge out from above their knicker line kinda of up and outwards?

I have a very toned, slim stomach and I have excess skin when I sit down. It's normal! The worse is when you get older, suddenly you have love handles, even though the rest of you is slim!!

I’m a size 6 and I have a wee podge when I sit down, I don’t think it’s anything to do with your size or shape - it’s so you can stand up again afterwards Grin

Yes generally you have to be extremely thin to not have one

I think everyone has this, even if they have six pack abs! Would high waisted Bikini bottoms give you more confidence?

I'm 5ft and a size 14. I used to be a 10-12 before my son and 2 and half stone of weight gain so I am very insecure about my figure now.

The responses here are making me feel... happier

I have the podge! When I go to the loo I sit down and think ‘ohmygodlookatthat’. Its a low podge but I carry weight in my hips so I guess that’s why.

tealandteal I've bought some that go above the knicker line so to speak and yes they do. My stomach still looks wobbly and horrid though

I have a significant podge when I sit down and stand up and I can feel the top of my tights rolling down in slow motion to escape it in disgust.

Crossposted - I’m 5’8” and size 14 - still the podge!

I don't think you'd be able to bend if you didn't have a bit of podge that gathers when you sit.

And you know photos on line and in magazines are photoshopped, right?
