To want to shout about my new bras from the rooftops?!

THANK YOU to whoever it was who told me about the boob or bust method on here a few months ago. For YEARS I've been wearing a 38G as I was told that's what I was in M&S. I knew it wasn't right, my back isn't 38 inches and if I bent over I'd get the hideous double boob Shock

Measured myself using boob or bust and came out as a 32J or 34JJ. Went for 34JJ and ordered a load of Curvy Kate and Flirtelle bras in the brastop sale. They arrived about an hour ago and I've just been prancing around with the mum tum flying in all directions in my new bras. I feel AMAZING. They're comfortable, they manage to lift up my (huge) boobs and not make them look saggy, they look GOOD.

So it turns out I'm two back sizes and FIVE cup sizes (GG, H, I, J, JJ) bigger than I was previously wearing! No wonder I always had bloody back pain.

Just wanted to shout about it for all the women in the back who haven't tried it yet, or still trust in the outdated method M&S and a few other places use.

I AM SO HAPPY Grin

Yay! Please share the details of how to do it, since I put on weight I have sausages sticking out all over the place but I can't face being measured by the size 0 teenager in victorias

RedPandaMama · 23/05/2018 12:16

@JJS888 I don't know how to do clicky links on here but if you go to booborbust.com it explains it all!

boob or bust website

I have just measured myself. I normally wear a 34DD but coming up as a 30G 😲. Surely I will have major muffin issues?

BagelGoesWalking · 23/05/2018 12:48

Fintress I went from a 36B to a 34DD! Never in my life would I have considered myself anywhere near a DD. Measurements came out as a 32 back but I really did find that too right (probably as I'd just got so used to a loose back for years).
You need to bend slightly and scoop it all from the sides into the cup Grin Also depends in the bra style, cup shape so you do have to try some. I ended up with Sainsbury's bras so it doesn't mean going for anything particularly expensive necessarily.

Fintress · 23/05/2018 12:51

Thanks Bagel! I'm going to pop into town and see what I can find, not sure if Sainsers go up to a G 😲

RedPandaMama · 23/05/2018 12:58

@Fintress that's the issue! The bigger cup size you go often the harder it is to find good bras! Brastop are good, I ordered loads from the sale from Curvy Kate who are very comfy and pretty, for between £15 and £17 a bra. I was paying up to £40 for one bra from Debenhams or M&S before so that seems wonderfully cheap.

Actually it's HH as there isn't an I in UK sizing Wink but yes a well fitting bra makes soo much difference Grin I am small of bosom but my BoB size is a 28E and I got a lovely Panache bra that fits great and makes my boobs look bigger even though it's not padded.

@Fintress a 34DD and a 30G actually have the same overbust measurement (39 inches) but the snugger band means your boobs will be much better supported - remember 80% of the support should come from the band and not the straps! Give it a go Smile

Lethaldrizzle · 23/05/2018 12:59

Thst sounds great. I shall give that website a go

RedPandaMama · 23/05/2018 13:00

Ah I didnt know there wasn't an I size! Thanks for the update. I wonder why?
My mum is a 28F and really struggles to get nice bras due to the bigger cup with small band. It's hard to find brands that accomodate for those small-of-band. I know she likes Panache too.

Hi
I did the boob or bust measurement too - I was wearing 36B... turns out I'm a 30E.
I was very disbelieving of that sizing, but a 30E fits perfectly.

AngeloMysterioso · 23/05/2018 13:06

So I just gave it a try. I’ve been wearing 32E/34DD

According to BoB... 28H???

WTF??

ArcticMumkey · 23/05/2018 13:07

I hear you OP! I was wearing a 32DD or 34D thanks to M&S, after doing BOB I'm now a 30E. I then spent a fortune in Bravissimo and really recommend their service too. I've been bouncing (or not...) round for a month now I feel so much better and I've got several inches of waist back!

RedPandaMama · 23/05/2018 13:10

Yay! I'm so glad to hear of other positive experiences of BOB too, hoped I wasn't the only one wearing completely the wrong sized bra!

ArcticMumkey me too with the waist! I thought after having a baby it was gone but I now have one again, turns out the droopy boobs were just hiding it!

Just done mine...
Surely I can’t go for a 38d to a 34j
Might struggle with finding bras!

Ariesgirl1988 · 23/05/2018 13:22

What is this method? M&S are not good for bra measuring Debenhams on the other hand are great. I went in there to get measured was wearing a 38D and found out I was in fact a 40F! shock didn't cover it soon as I tired on the 40F it was amazing and my back aches near enough went away

NClikecrazy · 23/05/2018 13:25

AngeloMysterioso I was wearing 32B and am 28D or even DD. I was shocked! Not yet got any new ones in that size though as my current ones are fairly comfy.

DieSchottin93 · 23/05/2018 13:30

@Arriesgirl1988 it's unusual to go up in back size, Debenhams can be a bit hit and miss with their fitting. As a general rule, your band size is usually no more than you dress size plus 20 (e.g. I am a size 8 on top and wear a 28 band), although of course this isn't a hard and fast rule. Use the calculator (Fintress linked to it further up the thread) and give it a go. The sizes sound unbelievable but what a lot of people forget is that CUP SIZE ISN'T STATIC, it all depends on the band size.

Ariesgirl1988 · 23/05/2018 13:51

@DieSchottin93 M&S measured me as a 38D so I went by that size and suffered shoulder blade and back aches for years until a friend recommended Debenhams. And I know its the back size not the cup you go by the fitter in Debenhams told me.

louisag1992 · 23/05/2018 13:55

Bravissimo are amazing too!

LesLavandes · 23/05/2018 14:05

How do you do the measurements?

GunpowderAndLead · 23/05/2018 14:06

I'm sill reeling from idea I'm 30GG!!!!

ColinsVeryJolly · 23/05/2018 14:09

M & S measured me as a 36C

I knew that couldn't be right so tried on loads myself and ended up with 34E or 32F depending on style but I've just used the B or B method and got 30G.

Might try a few on in that size and see how I get on.

Yes Redpanda!! 💃

I’ve given up trying to buy bras in M&S - so many poor measuring experiences.
Love Bravissimo too 💕
Although buy most of my bras in Italy as much better selection in my size 32GG

A good fitting bra is a girl’s best friend ❤️

BuntyII · 23/05/2018 14:17
